Root NEW!! Boost/Sprint FF27 Update Rooted Final Ver{8/1/12}

I posted in the other thread before I saw this.

Wife got the update this morning and it updated the build and base band to FF27.

want to up date our 2 rooted phones to this but need to know if a can flash Ultra rom over this and will this flash change my kernel and if so can I reflash Bobzhome oc kernel?

Thanks for this chevanlol360.

Its already running bob's kernel, he will be updating it soon to be based off the FF27 update.

I installed CWM (using Odin and the unplug-the-phone-at-reset-time trick) and I was able to install this update from backup. Just a note for other semi-newbies and instruction literalists. You need to unzip the BoostFF27Update.zip file to [your SD card]/clockworkmod/backup/ ...

Some notes:
- Anyone out there should do a backup with CWM before doing this restore. Just for sanity's sake.
- I got an error shortly after the first boot -- something about "Unable to login". I thought maybe some of chevanlol360's data might still be lingering and we'd both be happier if I wiped that out...
- Wiping factory data + Dalvik cache (not sure which actually mattered) will make that bug disappear, but it seems to break Superuser/root. The Superuser application hangs with a white screen. Titanium Backup just sits there waiting for permission. Typing "su" in the terminal also leads to a hang in the application.
- Restoring from the backup a second time worked fine, minus the factory wipe.
- Conclusion: for whatever reason, don't do a factory data wipe. That said, I now have a rooted 2.3.6 . Thanks everyone!

Addendum: the freeze bug happened with the version of BoostFF27Update that was there earlier this morning *and* the newer one.

Im aware of the root lose problem, theres a superuser zip in the thread, you can download it at anything and flash it via cwm to regain root.

The only need thing i see that has been changed is the lockscreen and then window animations, havn't noticed anything else but it rlly is nice though.
maybe its a gift for the crap they put us through:D

Prevail got an update that changed the lockscreen to this more than a month ago. I worked on one for a friend recently and noticed it.

Thank chev for the quick fix for the about phone-status bug. The difference on this FF27 update is the wifi connects quick & on it's own no app needed. I was using setdns and it still took a little while to connect. Quick question, has the baseband been changed from FC29 cuz that's what I have? I updated to that last month or so.

so i flashed the updated fix rom and noticed the kernel is 2.6.35.7 the original rom had bobzhome kernel which one is better? lol what is kernel actually for cpu speed?

thats the stock FF27 kernel, if you want to OC reflash bob's OC kernel but note that if you switch back to the OC kernel when you go to settings->about phone and tap in status it will FC.

I got everything going, hooray! What I did was run Bads3ctor's unroot zip (what happened to him by the way?), odin stock recovery, did a full reboot, pulled battery, went into stock recovery, installed Unrooted FF27 Update.zip, rebooted a couple of times to make sure. Then pulled battery, went back & odin cwm back on, pulled battery after flash, went back into cwm, wiped cache, advanced wiped dalvik cache, flashed a backup I still had of Loota's Bear necessities 2.3.6 Rom(Thanks Loota!) modded to My taste, rebooted, pulled battery, went back into cwm, & did an advanced restore, & flashed Chevan's 2.3.6 Update, & now I have 2.3.6 with the new update, no fc's on about phone-status, baseband FF27, & Bobz Great Kernel oc'd, Everything working great! So it was a group effort! Thanks to all! Hope this helps anyone that's in the same boat I was in!

What new window animations? I updated per the way up there, and I'm not seeing new window animations. I got the update because my Baseband version is S:M930.02 x.FF27 and my Kernel Version is 2.6.35.7, and I have the new lock screen.

And yes, Settings>Display>Animation is set to All. They're just the same as the last update.

Hmm. The WiFi works fine, and GPS works again.
