Although I am new to this phone I am not new to sprints great reputation of dissapointing upgrades.

I've been threw it all since 2.0 on the Samsung Moment. And every upgrade is just a complete let down. I've read some reviews on the E4GT ICS update that rolled out yesterday and they all claim it to be worse then the first update mid July. I would agree because yesterday (before I got this phone) my Evo 3D had received ICS and it was fine.. for the first 30 seconds. Then it just lagged for everything, my keyboard was slow and unresponsive the 3g faded way to often. Not to mention that my internal memory dropped from 1.2gb to 732MB and ram severely increased..
Now I am asking those who already have the ICS update if it is as bad as I read. Is it worth the upgrade or am I better off flashing one of the roms here.

From what I've seen the ICS update from Sprint didn't really give any visual hints that it changed. Touchwiz IMO is rubbish and the stock launcher is much better, and allows for a bit more flexibility.

If you want to see what it looks like there is a way to disable touchwiz as the default launcher. Google changing default launcher on epic 4g touch and you should find some stuff on it.

Whenever an update is sent the best thing to do is a hard reset after its downloaded

<snip>

Not true. Detail differences are noticeable. I had the grid unlock set, and the first thing I noticed was that the grid buttons are way smaller, and the finger trail is different.

The status bar at the top has larger icons - more readable.

When you press & hold the Home button, the task/program list is a verticle column with larger images than the old grid with icons.

The interface seems more polished in its behavior too.

The downside is that two of the problems I experienced on the old version are still there on the new - the random menu pop-ups and temporary button freeze (unresponsiveness).

Gb to ics is a huge upgrade (2.3 to 4.0) and manufacturers are under a lot of stress to push them out quickly.

I know I've seen plenty of angry posts in the 3d forums about not having ics yet, and then they get it and it's mixed results.
This is not manufacturer specific, most of them are having a lot of problems getting the update to work right.

By the time they take their time and get it right, you're due for an upgrade.

I wish I never updated to ICS, my battery life is horrible now, and my texts do not come all the way through now, if the text is really long or if its a picture the text will just say downloading and stay like that forever, either way this will be my last Samsung phone I hate the radio in this phone anyway its the worst I ever experienced in a phone, and just other lil bugs in general just too much

I had the 3d up until lastweek. I got rid of it the day cdma recieved 4.0.3 and it was terrible. Even the VM and GSM versions have better results. I think its the carrier instead of developement. Sprint wants to add bloat and make the software unique to their phone so they end up screwing up more then fixing.

Hey there! I totally agree! I'm a techy novice, but I follow directions well. I found a thread that gives detailed instructions on how to Flash back to GB. The process also roots your phone but, if you prefer (which I did), instructions are also included to remove the root so that your phone goes back to stock GB once everything is completed.

Worked like a charm for me and now I'm back to my beloved Gingerbread. I'll keep posted in the forums and if a new release gets pushed with better reviews I can always opt back in for the update.

I have been updated From EL29 for a little while now, but I just got the update for the new system like a week or two ago and it has been horrible. And I am not talking about the little changes like how to edit contacts and other things of that nature... I AM TALKING BATTERY LIFE AND THE SLOW LAGGING RESPONSE!!!! I loved the battery life on this phone, I was able to unplug at 7 am and not plug back till midnight and depending on my usage, still have between 30 and 43%, now Not even using it all that much to prove a point and here it was today 3pm and completely DEAD! I unplugged it at 8:45AM... ugh... I REALLY don't want to have to buy extra batteries like I have done with my past phones..... How can we get them to know it is messed up and get them to FIX IT!?!?!?! And now for the slow responsiveness, I click and wait..... and wait.... and wait. It has never been like this.... So frustrating...:(:mad::(:mad::( Oh and I have a Samsung Galaxy S II 4G Epic Touch
