this forum is single-handedly destroying my linear algebra grade...I'm supposed to be studying for a big test tomorrow, but you fools keep posting stuff and I can't miss a word....i hate all of you....can I just have my phone please.....

I didn't learn anything in my My Economics and Business Law classes today either. I was keeping up with this forum from my Blackberry hidden under my notebook. lol :D

Anyone else remember that Engadget article stating an Incredible release "within two weeks"? That was published March 18. You know what 2 weeks from 3/18 is?

April 1. Also one of the rumored release dates. Let's hope that pans out!

Engadget

I can see it now.... Verizon rolls out the Incredible on April 1st and everybody on here calls bullshit in anticipation of the expected shenanigans and we all miss out. :p:eek::D

Ok, so since I am in a huge high tech company, here in Silicon Valley, I decided to hunker down and start a research project, based on the information I have gathered here. I have some budies that are freakin wizards at writing code and I recruited them to help.

Basicaly, what I did was start with the naming conventions for the various code names and actual product names of the phones, such as "Incredible, Desire, Passion, etc..", then plugged in some key features, like 720p video, dual camera, 4g, haotic feedback.." and crunched it all through the program.

You won't believe what came out....

So here is the name of the next phone we can expect and a list of the next killer features:

Name: Insertable
Features: adjustable speed haptic feedback and vibrate ringers
Features: water resistant
No other features detected calculated by program

So, as I learn more from my research, I will post updates, but that is all I have discovered so far.

I don't have a release date yet, but the program should spit something out soon.

We need to lay off all these posts that are absolutely not related to the HTC Incredible before we get scolded again by Mods or worse.

I think we're fine... the disclaimer on the first page warns people that this thing may not always be "on-topic" and unless we let ourselves degenerate into "The Second Incredible War," I believe we'll be ok, bud! :)

Yup. You guys do realize there is a VERIZON section don't you? This thread isn't meant to be a verizon updater.

Maybe so, but since Verizon is also the carrier of the Incredible, I believe it's relevant. Let's face it - the iPhone is the top competitor to ALL other smartphones out there and it's healthy to be informed as to what your primary adversary competitor is doing. Just ask Bill Belichick about the virtues of spying on the competition!

I have thought of 2 possible scenarios that have not been discussed at length as of yet:

1. It is entirely possible the phone was not due out to be released until May, but VZW is scrambling to move up the date because of competition and hype. This would explain the lack of an announcement and overall lack of knowledge by employees. Announcements would come at the last minute when they were sure the phone was absolutely ready to be launched, and launch would follow very closely afterward.

2. The phone was due out in March, but was delayed by issues. According to a PhoneArena article I read a couple weeks ago, the Nexus One was supposedly delayed because of the multitouch issues and that means the Incredible could have been too because they use the same screen (yes I know NKT reported he did not see the issue, but I dont believe this can be ruled out). Another issue that was rumored was that Skype Mobile and Android 2.1 were having compatibility issues. This sort of problem would explain the lack of an announcement for both the Nexus One and the Incredible, and it also explains why the Droid 2.1 updates keep being shoved back.

Just food for thought. I am hoping it comes out in the next 2 weeks, so I can have it before I go on vacation.

I feel you both are right...

if salesman works on commission = a lot less likely to say "don't buy today, wait till product xxxxxx comes in"

if salesman does NOT work on commission = definitely have had them tell me to wait for another product to come in

just my $.02

You need to remember that Return/Exchange rate affects them DRASTICALLY.. It's much more profitable for them in the long run to make sure you get the device you really want and need

I thought this was a terrible marketing plan all along, but maybe your right. Verizon could have dropped the ball on getting newer phones because they felt the Droid would suffice for longer or that customers will continue to not complain because of their network and now their just playing catchup. It would explain everything except for the N1 which appears to be ready to start shipping within 2 weeks for sure. Either way its not a good thing for us

Would anyone find it ironic if after all we have been through and all of this time (speaking to my brothers who have been at this since the HTC Passion forum, newsradio saga, etc.) if the Incredible's official name on Verizon was the Passion? That would have truly come full circle...
oh gosh i remember that forum..that was the highlight of my winter break!!
