Chinavasion Celeritas (MTK6573) - Help with removing Chinese apps!

Hello,

I bought a Celeritas (MTK 6573) in March from Chinavasion. It shipped with Android 2.3.4 or 2.3.5.

About 2 months ago, the power/screen off button stopped responding. I sent it back to Chinavasion to be repaired, and when it returned, the original English ROM had been replaced with a Chinese ROM (v. 2.3.5)!

Now I have a bunch of Chinese apps on the phone that were not there before (QQ Security, Youni SMS, LeCoo, SohuNews, UC Browser, Weibo, and some Chinese thing with a shopping cart). Since the phone is not rooted, I cannot get rid of these apps, and some are even running constantly in the background.

The worst part is that Google Play Store isn't installed anymore, so I can't install any of the apps I actually do use.

Dealing with Chinavasion is a huge pain. It takes them at least 24 hours to respond due to the time zone difference (I'm in Canada) and sometimes it's over a week until I hear back from them. Their customer service is terribly slow.

I don't know a thing about rooting or ROMs. Can someone help me get rid of these Chinese apps and install Google Play Store?

Thank you

- Lex

Hi

I had the same problem. Installed an app from play store which put a whole lots of programmes on that I could not delete...all chinese stuff.

You will need to root you phone.

For this you need SuperOneClick check google.

Root your phone.

Then get a root app deleter many available which is more advanced then using settings..applications...manage applications.

I deleted the offending programmes easily.

Hope this helps!
