Glaxay S2 Dropping Signal All The Time

So my Girlfriend has a Galaxy S2 with Sprint. She has constant signal issues no matter where she goes. This is her second phone because she lost/had her last one stolen. She had the same issues with the last one. Now she recently got the newest update. I would say a few weeks ago if not longer. Anyways, her dad has the same phone and experiences at least some of the same amount of signal loss as she does. Is there a fix for this at all or is this something that Sprint should swap her and her dad out for a different phone? It's just getting ridiculous. I'm on Verizon with the Bionic and I have no issues. I had Sprint before and with a lesser phone than hers I didn't have the issues with signal that they have. So it tells me it's not network but that it's the phone. Any help would be awesome.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Sprint seems to be doing a lot of goofy things to its network in a desperate bid to finally get at least some 4G working. (WiMAX is considered "3.5G", so it doesn't count.) I get the feeling that they're neglecting their plain old phone service and lesser data services in order to get this done faster. The long awaited Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade also seems to have contributed to poor reception.

I've been a Sprint customer for 12 years, and am so dissatisfied with their service in general that I'm seriously considering paying the early termination penalty to be done with their drama and move on to a phone company that can actually provide phone service. The only thing keeping me from making the change today is the fact that I'm going to be moving in six months, and don't want to get stuck with a 2 year contract with a company that has poor reception in my new neighborhood.

I'm getting so fed up with cellular companies in general that I might move to a place with a strong GMRS community that has a repeater with a phone patch, and use it for mobile calls.

Everything I've read about signal loss... I've had my 4g Touch through Sprint for about a year now... is that the phone itself has a poor antenna??

I live in Arlington, TX... smack dab in between Fort Worth, and Dallas... so I don't think it's Sprints service...

I have a Clear hotspot for home internet... while I can get a WiFi signal sitting next to it plain as day... take it around on corner and no signal... my wife's Photon has outstanding signal anywhere she goes... 3g, 4g, or WiFi...

So yeah, unfortunately the antenna and battery life are big drawbacks when people ask me how I like the phone.

All of the newer phones with hidden antennas have poor antenna designs. In the rush to make cellphones smaller and lighter, cellphone makers lost sight of the fact that these are radios, and they need proper external antennas because the cellphone providers are never going to build enough cell site infrastructure to make a phone with a little strip antenna buried deep in its bowels and covered by the user's hand enough to sustain a good phone call. But Sprint put their stamp of approval on the damn thing, so it's their responsibility to try to teach their pig to sing or give their customers their money back.

I'm sorry they decided to switch to LTE, but I understand Sprint's business decision. I'm very happy with my E4GT and never had a signal issue. I'm stock and I've never accepted the ICS update so I'm still on Gingerbread. My phone doesn't drop signals but sometimes I can drive into an area that has a low signal and the performance of my data will drop. I've had my E4GT for one year now and I've always been able to lock on to the Wi-Max 4G signal when I'm at work. Right now I did a speedtest.net test and received 10.85Mbps down, 1.85Mbps up, and 85ms ping. This is typical. That sounds like 4G speed to me and is very comparable to Verizon's 4G LTE speeds. I admit the Wi-Max 4G signal is not strong in all areas and at home I can't even get it, but many other areas and here where I work, it does too!

I just did a factory reset this morning. I am also on Jellybean now. Ice cream sandwich was bad enough for connections issues, but now with Jellybean, it seems to have gotten even worse. I cannot stay connected. Went to the sprint store today, left my phone there and when I picked it up, they said everything was normal. This is getting ridiculous. I cant make a call, check fb, can't text, no emails, nothing! Because no signal.
