Are battery pulls obsolete?

Time to upgrade the Drooid X. I like the looks of the Razr Maxx and the new HD sounds like what I would like. I wonder about not being able to access the battery. It seems that "battery pulls" were the recommended first aid for phones in trouble. Now what do you do? Just reboot? Or do they just not get in trouble anymore?

Maybe I am just over thinking this and battery pulls were just a plecebo to give you a cooling off period when the phone ticked you off.

Pressing and holding Power + Volume (up/down, can't remember) for 10 seconds is the same as a battery pull on the current Razrs.

Humm. Bricked my DX so bad that it would not charge. After trying so many times to fix it, the battery went dead. If I couldn't have replaced the battery, not sure what I would have done.
That being said, "I" bricked my phone trying to root. I attempted to do this with 1/2 a charge on a small DX battery.
Am I justifying why I should get the RHD because of a fixed battery....ya. I don't like the fixed battery. BUT, with a 3,300 mah on a full charge, I can try to fix my phone for two days before I get in trouble.

I was stuck at the screen with white text, boat loader?
ALthough I root and sbf, I really don't know all the technical details. I just follow the tutorials:-(

For the most part....yes. I've had to do one "battery pull" since getting the maxx a few months ago. I never turn my phone off. This phone is much more stable than the dx ever was for me.

Yep. But it can be tricky. Had to do some wire splicing on mine and tape to the wire contacts after i took the back off of my RAZR so that I could get it to think it had a charge so it would boot into recovery. Finally got it to work thankfully. First time I have ever been stuck where I thought I finally bricked a phone.

i had the maxx for about a week and sent it back, mainly because i couldnt deal with the difference between the nexus and the gingerbread(at that time maxx)

but the difference between the maxx and the X is far different.

the X was a single core phone, and all dx root and romers will admitt the DX was and quite possibly still is a powerhouse of a device. the maxx is an even more powerhouse of a device. the breaking point for me with the maxx was the fact it was more phone than it was screen, the DX has a slim sleak profile where as the maxx felt more bulky. but that is only my perception.
