Help Cracked already

I am sorry that happened to you. I am still waiting on mine, and am getting very nervous.

Waiting on it...getting fixed, or waiting to get it as your new phone? May I ask how much were the repairs and what happened :O ?

@Zen: Not sure, 4 feet maybe, onto parking lot pavement junk. Stupid new phones. I dropped my old incredible so many times and barely a scratch T_T

Yep, brand new phone cracked yay! Anyone know of anywhere to get replacement parts this early? I've looked everywhere but I'm new to this sort of thing. For all reading this: Always get insurance or use an otterbox or something...
Though my original DNA has since been replaced for other reasons (bluetooth issues) I had dropped it twice with no ill effects. However, the fear that this might happen again with not-so-positive-results inspired me to get a case.

I got the Ditztronic case from Amazon for $12.50 and couldn't be happier. It protects the phone, adds almost no bulk and is understated and doesn't draw attention to itself and away from the phone. Just drilled a small hole through the back to reveal the rear notification light.

I use that hard plastic case with belt holder combo kit.
It's the one that adds the plastic flip out kickstand on the back.

One thing about phones is them slipping out of your hand and all it takes is dropping them just right.

One trick I figured out was slidding out that plastic kick stand and then slidding your ring finger in it when holding the phone.
Even if you are walking around it will make dropping the phone almost impossible and the phone actually still fits almost perfectly natural when doing so.

I do this when I'm walking through the store, etc.

Check out the attached photos.
That is how I sometimes walk around with my phone in my hand.

It's almost impossible to drop the phone if you slide your ring finger into the plastic slide out kick stand as shown.

Bummer. Yea, I dropped my old incredible about a dozen times over the 2.5 years I had it and it never cracked. I was using a thin Seidio case though. One thing to keep in mind is the Incredible is not only lighter but it also has a much smaller screen which lowers the cracking chance.

I had the original Droid Inc before I switched to AT&T, and after I did, I let my son use the phone as a PDA for his games. One day putting him into his car seat I forgot that I placed the phone on hood of my Dodge Magnum and proceeded to drive down the road. I must have got to about 35 mph before I heard something hit the roof of the car but wasn't sure what it was. I looked in my side view mirror and saw this red thing bouncing down the road!! I quickly did a u-turn, went back and found yup... the battery, battery cover and main part of the phone scattered but each piece was still intact! Can you believe the screen never cracked!! A bunch of scratches on the outter rim of the glass but nothing to obstruct using the phone. I should have left the body-glove case on but took it off since I wasn't using the phone anymore.

To this day the phone works almost perfectly, the only thing I noticed is the camcorder has issues.

I doubt the DNA would be able to survive such abuse.

I know how you feel OP, everyone feels the same way about something brand new until that one day....

You can add me to the list of casualties. Phone fell out if my jacket pocket as I was getting out of the car today, hit the pavement, shattered. I have insurance so it's not catastrophic.

I've had the Droid Inc, Thunderbolt, and Rezound, mostly went without a case and never had a problem. Reluctant as I am to admit it, I think a case is a necessity with this phone.
