Galaxy note 2 advice

Hello there,

I just got a Galaxy note 2, previously had an iPhone 4s, I bought the international version, so I paid about $400 difference (I'm not in the US). I love the bigger screen, but coming from iOS to Android really made me feel like I downgraded. This phone being quadcore and 2GB of ram is not as smooth as my previous iPhone 4s.

Browsing chrome feels sluggish, opening gallery with about 1k pictures I can see the animation transition with a bit of lag. Waking up the phone takes sometimes as long as two seconds (I even tried every youtube trick to solve this, no luck). Applications such as steam scroll at max 30 fps and the list goes on.

I have never rooted a phone so I'm not even sure this exists, but I'm looking for a custom rom that helps me improve the fps while navigating through the phone (Or really any tips would help).

Thanks!

Well to be fair your iPhone just has a bunch of stagnant square icons, useless at offering any information, arranged in a simple grid pattern and with well over a quarter million fewer pixels. I mean, it doesn't really do all that much as an operating system so it should at least be really smooth at it.

My kitchen drawer calculator is lightning fast and smooth too so if you want to upgrade to that get in touch with me and I'll sell it to you.

Android is different than ios, there is no doubt about it. If you want it to be exactly the same, it won't be and you should have stayed with your iPhone. On the other hand, I think Android has many, many good things going for it and you should give it some time. Change is hard sometimes and it takes some time to transition. I don't really have any of the issues you speak of but never have an iPhone either to compare it to but from all the other comments I have read, Android is much more customizeable than ios ever can be and definitely can make YOUR device YOUR device, if you know what I mean. I think after you give it some time, you will find out what the rest of us already knows which is that Android and the GNII is a really great device with superb capabilities. It is a natural tendency when you first make a change to always fall back and compare what you now have as new to what you used to have on your favorite features of your old item. That goes for anything.....cars, bikes, wristwatch, tv's and even your cellular phones, etc. Good luck!

Like others already said if you could just put little square icons and nothing else...android could be the same smoothness...being We can put widgets..live wall paper etc...it's not possible..although flipping threw screens on note 2(at vzw) seems pretty smooth vs others I have had...sluggish Internet I'm not sure about... my charge and others never seemed sluggish (no different then my ipad) opening the pic app I don't know being i Don't have the note yet..

That doesn't help me at all, but thanks for your opinion, I'd rather see what android is capable of before going back to iOS.

I hope Caloy's input helped. I also have iPhone 4s. Overall, it's just a wee bit faster than Note 2. But for me, I'm sooo in love with the freedom to customize my Note 2. I got a 3 yr contract w/ 6gb LTE and free perks for $60/mth and I'm confident my Note 2 will continue to keep me engaged whereas I got bored with my iPhone 4s. To each their own.

You see , The thing is Android and IOS is both different ... so you can't just compare them... And I have personally used the iPhone 5 aand trust me,Even The Xperia Mini has better feature,UI then The iOS ... I thing to agree here is iOS is a minimal OS, Which does not.offer you many things (such as custom roms ,tweaks, New kernel)

And about the performance ? Try runing a 1080P video on your note and also on your Iphone and and see the differences for yourself! :screwy:

And you should go back to IOS ... Android is not for you :banghead:

You sound like a fan boy that is heavily over exaggerating. I also came from a 4s before this a 4 before that a 3 and 3gs before that, I LOVE this phone, I'm not having any of this issues you are describing. If you feel the way you do please just go back.
