Root Root 4.2?

I asked this at another forum and couldn't get a response, but can I root 4.2 and if so which application should in use or do you recommend thank you

Can't find adb device...tried everything it ask

If it's not finding the adb device, then it's one of two things. Either USB debugging isn't on under developer options, or the drivers aren't set up correctly. If the drivers contained in the toolkit don't work, you could try downloading the drivers from ASUS's website and use those. Those require manual installation, but that doesn't take long.

Those dang drivers are a pain. I had to install the Android SDK, RSDLite, Motohelper, PDA.net on the N7, PDAnet for Android on my PC, all the drivers in the Rootkit thread and finally got it to work. Focus on the drivers. Once they work, everything else falls into place.

Then it has to be the drivers. What version of windows are you using, xp, vista, 7, or 8?

There are instructions on setting up the drivers within the toolkit, the line above unlock boot loader, I believe.... you need to go into the device manager but I couldn't direct you any further from there sorry.

I'm assuming you mean the ASUS drivers from their website. If so, unzip the drivers, then you have to open the device manager while the device is connected in debugging mode. You should see an about android, but not related to mtp. Right click it, and click update drivers. Pick the option to let you choose, and specify the folder where you unzipped the drivers too. Once that finishes, you will have to do the same with the bootloader drivers. Reboot the device into fastboot mode and repeat the same process as you did for the adb drivers. Once both are installed, reboot the device normally and you can begin rooting. Make sure you unlock the bootloader first, which will wipe your device, or else rooting it will fail.
