Thank you, all of you who have shared knowledge, experience, tips, etc. My EVO powers down every time is moved/jarred so I guess I'm moving on. I'm thinking either the SGS3 or the SG Note as my main targets, any other thoughts or suggestions? I'm staying w/ Sprint and LTE is due in my town within 6 months.

the more i play with my friends SG N2 the more i like it. i never liked the SGN. both are big, but the speed and the clarity of the screen is amazing. the camera is amazing, plus you can photoshop your pics right on the spot!!!!!

i am jealous, but i still love my evo 4g lte. i think i can wait a few years to upgrade with this phone as we have a pretty good dev community.

Yeah I should have clarified the SGN2 is what I'm considering... Yeah I don't know if I can get used to the idea of having something the size of a Kindle next to my head and in my pocket all day!
Honestly I'm not real jazzed about any of sprints current phones, bummed that my OG EVO is broke :(
Ocn you have always been a big help, thanks for everything!

I have a gn2, an EVO LTE, and 2 SG3's. The Samsung devices are WAY better than the EVO LTE. I carry the note and EVO LTE. My wife and daughter use the S3. I rooted the note and use it as a mobile hotspot. Works like a charm. I'm considering swapping to the note as my primary phone. Wife and daughter love their S3s. They are fast and smooth. Don't get me wrong, the EVO LTE is nice but IMHO, not on the same level as the latest Samsung devices. I don't know a whole bunch about the development on the Samsung devices. I run jellybomb on the note. Its pretty much flawless. The dev is constantly working on updates and improvements. On the other hand, I don't think the development for the EVO LTE is nearly as good as it was on the OG EVO at this time. Is there more to come for the EVO LTE? I sure hope so.

In closing I would put the note atop my list. The size will take a minute to get used to but a wait worth taking.

Thanks everyone.. Decided to get the SGS3.. And spend the extra money on those handlebars I've been wanting for my cycle:)

Honestly don't know if I will even bother rooting it? First impression is that it comes with far less annoying bloatware than my EVO did. It looks great, runs great, so I will probably roll with it stock for a while, but I'm sure I'll get bored and root it sooner or later LOL.

Can anybody point me in the right direction on a couple things? I want to move my old SMS/MMS messages to the new phone. Also my contacts seem to be a little jacked up, like 2-3 copies of every one?
Thanks guys, hopefully see some of you over in the SGS3 forum...

get sms backup from the play store. it will back the messages to the sd card. you can then transfer it to your new phone.

is your contacts synced with google or just the phone? never had any issues with google contacts. you can also access your contacts thru your gmail or google+ accounts as well.

honestly though i would post these questions in the s3 forums.......i know moving to another forum sucks....LOL but it has to happen sometime;):D

What's wrong with the SGS3 forums? It should be a fantastic place to be now that I hang in there:p  That place is BIZZEE!! yikes!

I guess more than anything else, it's "the change of forums" which when that happens you run the possibility of losing all your "go to" people ( Ocn, M. Stoney, RxPert, MizzouBrent etc...) I'm sure there are good people on other forums but for me and other first timers you kind of get accustomed to the way things operate here (which by the way is second to none) and that's the hard part to give up. Realistically, I know eventually it will happen and people will move on. I've even noticed things starting to slow down around here over the past few months, inevitable but that doesn't mean I have to like it......

Long live the Evo 4G !!!

I understand as I started my AF life in the Evo4g forums. Then I got my SGS3 and felt wierd moving over there. New people, new device etc.
And it's cool that those same people you mentioned, will still pop in here to offer help :)

As long as you get top tier phones, the forum support will always be there. The EVO 4G was surely an epic phone...look how there are over 300K posts in this forum...the most of any phone.

The S3 is the hottest thing right now, and as a result, it's got all the attention. I feel the S4 is around the corner...so that will likely be the next big thing.

I myself don't really care anymore. I switched to Virgin Mobile, and am saving over $45/mo. I got the EVO V and although it's a bit old, it's still dual core and 1.2 GHz. That works for me, even though the forum isn't quite the same as this place once was.

I know that in order for me to get back to that...I have to spend $90/mo for service, buy a $200-250 phone, and get locked into a 2 year contract. I won't be doing any of that unless I come into a large sum of money :p

I can't justify the extra $1080 over the course of 2 years just to have a top tier phone (BTW, you're only top tier for like 6 months in this industry...maybe a year tops) So for the second year of the contract, you either have to pay out the yazoo for a new phone, or pay ETF and get out of contract...then buy another $200+ phone. Luckily, carriers are allowing early upgrades at about the 18-20 month mark (to lock you in for another 2 years)

Seems like a rat race to me :(

I guess I'm not the only one who feels like not leaving the 'nest'..

I wish I could have waited for the S4, my EVO finally broke after 2 1/2 years...

LOL you are not alone. i still hang out here as much as i can.....i'm not going anywhere even though i have a new phone. but rest assured AF in general should be your home......

you should checkout some of the other forums like:
The Lounge - Android Forums
Android Lounge - Android Forums

i'm on there as well.

the lounge is a cool place to hang out come on in and participate if you like.
