Help charging problems..anybody else?

I was having problems were my phone wouldnt charge when I plug it into the computer or wall outlet. I would sometimes connect n the red light would turn on and then 5 mins later it would disconnect. I contacted virgin mobile and told them thinking they would just send me a new charging cable, instead they suggested me a new phone. Didn't make sense to me but there the technicians. Anybody else get this problem? How long does it take to get a replacement?

its just them wac Motorola chargers. they get so messed up. I use a htc charger its a lot better. when I had the triumph I would have to hold the charger in stuff. use a htc charger its a lot better. im using the htc evo v charger hasn't messed up once

I tryed this but it didn't work.

I called VM today and they told me that they don't have any replacement batteries or chargers in stock but they would call me as soon as they did. Kinda sounds dumb that they wouldnt have any in stock.

Sooner or later they going to run out of triumphs to. I believe the phone is discontinued (not being made anymore)

Ran into this exact same issue recently. Thought it might have been the battery's issue or the cable's issue, but it turned out to be the charging port. Didn't want to get a replacement Triumph, as mine worked flawlessly besides the bad charging port, so I ordered this from Amazon:

Now I have 3 batteries total which I charge through the external charger provided and swap them in and out as needed. I even prefer this to my old system of putting my phone on the charger as soon as I get home, as now I never have to wait for my phone to charge. I found this to be a great workaround to the faulty charging port on the Triumph.

I got a replacement phone from VM and the problem was still happening so I don't think that it is the phone.

Its probably Motorola chargers if that's what you using. I had to keep moving the charger around because it would cut off for some reason. I would say use the HTC evo v charger just get one off amazon. I have a evo v and I use the charger on my triumph and it never messes up

Don't expect a call back they never follow through, you will have to keep calling

That's faulty logic from a troubleshooting point of view, especially considering VM is giving you a used phone which has likely been subjected to the same wear and tear your old one was. (It's like people who buy a new battery when their car doesn't start and declare it thus can't be the battery. They can and do sell bad batteries-if one cell is defective a new battery won't start your car)
It checked out on their test bench... but with a different charger than yours. The tech probably has a pile of chargers in front of him and as long as one charges it, the phone is fine, right?
Not really.
My theory is that the phone's charge port has some microcontacts in a D type shell. With repeated plugging and unplugging and off axis tugging, that D shell expands and loses material. Just figure it gets sloppy. Fitting tightly in the D shell however is required for the microcontacts to make good connection. (I'm not sure if the shell itself is a contact point)
Since about the only thing you want to tinker with on the phone end is to make sure those contacts are clean, we can tweek the charger end to make a more secure fit.
The charger end of this connection has a pair of spring metal tabs on each side of its outer shell. In time their position recedes a bit. Each pair is designed differently but they can be pried up carefully with a needle to provide a more secure fit when plugged into the phone, in fact you'll immediately notice more resistance inserting the plug. You'll need to repeat this every month or two but it's definitely solved the problem for me.

I will say sending your phone to VM is probably the last thing I would do, as they are just sending out used phones that check good on their bench- which may be someone else's lemon. Who knows where it's been, maybe it's even been smuggled into prison somewhere. Look up how that's done.
