Hey guys, just new on here. Recently got an ace. As everyone knows, there isn't much memory on it. I have tried moving them the sd card but it wont allow me. I havent rooted it yet, though i dont really know what rooting means or does. I'm really just a peanut with a phone so if there is an exolinatio, please keep it pretty simple :) I dont know which file to open to root so which file or do i need to root every app? I have tried going into most files but it just has ../ in it and thats it. I have. I am very lost right now. Is rooting safe as well. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello! I am new to the ace too and rooted it the other day

Rooting your phone gives you superuser privileges. It will create a superapp on your phone. It won't change any data or anything like that

You can now install apps that let you mess around with voltages, get custom roms and kernels etc.

I just did the root only, I don't want to run before I can walk. Follow the sticky link on top of the main page. All things root guide, just keep reading before you understand

I can copy apps to my sd card but not the ones that came with the phone like calculator and calender, I'm sure there is a root browser where you can do that, or maybe I already can.

The whole process takes less than five mins. I just copied over the universal zip onto my sd card, booted my phone into recovery and then chose the zip from the menu, check the guide to see which option. After that I got a superuser app in my settings. Now I can get stuff from the play store which needs root to install or play with

I haven't rooted it yet and am not able to move my Facebook application lication onto my sd card. If I rooted it, would it allow me to move it? And what is a sticky not haha. Really not up with technology. Sadly I'm a young person though

Sticky means a thread on a forum that is up the top of the page

Samsung Galaxy Ace - Android Forums Check the red writing up the top where it says sticky

I just realised the root section isn't a sticky but it is up the top, click this link and have a good read

I'm not sure if you can move the FB app without some third party program, someone will need to confirm this. I can't even see the app on my phone. I'm in the process of looking for a program that will delete original apps that came with the phone, hopefully someone can help us out

If your rooted and don't want to flash a custom detoxed rom (i.e. has all the bloatware removed) then the safest way to get rid of unwanted bloat apps is to freeze them. Just search for "freeze apps" in the play store, there are many available.

Advantage of doing it this way is that you can always unfreeze them to get them back.
