LG Optimus M & MetroPCS Memories

I originally posted this in the LG Optimus M section but then I decided to post it here to as most of the LG Optimus M users like me have moved on to other phones which means they most likely won't check the Optimus M forum but assuming most of them are still on Metro they are more likely to see it here.

Anyway let me begin by saying the Optimus M was the first Android phone offered by MetroPCS. I remember when I first got this phone 2 years ago.. I was 16 it was my first Android.. to me it was the best phone ever and I'd show it off to all of my friends.

It being my first Android I was completely amazed at what the phone could do, and I was always learning things about the phone, and soon found my way here on Android Forums which showed me completely different side to my phone and what I could do with it.. I soon thereafter rooted it, and then not to mention all those nice roms too choose from and the active community behind the phone.. it just got better and better with endless possibilities. Now when I go to the Optimus M section its a ghostown :(

I mean back then the small 3.2 inch screen felt huge on it lol. I recently came back here on Android forums after a year long break and I was remembering those good times and thought I'd share it here with you guys.

Being with Metro for 5 years it has also been amazing to see it grow as a company.. they get better and better. I remember when every phone they had on their lineup was pure horseshit and look now with all these nice new phones, and good deals.

With my time with metro within these 5 years I've grown too from my mom paying my bills to me becoming an adult and paying my own!

I remember 3 years ago (I was 17) my friend got his first phone which was this one but the t-mobile version and i was so jelly :p because i had the $30 kyocera or however you spell it.

I saved up for a while because i wanted the metro one(service i had). ended up getting the admire by then .

Aww man no good memories from those old kyocera's.. Im never buying a kyocera again no matter how good the deal is or what features/specs it may have assuming it now would be a android phone if Metro was to sell one.

Ive had plenty of kyocera phones but in the end it has been LG and Samsung phones that have met my expectations and lasted me through the years.

This is almost my exact story with the exception that I wasn't even able to root my optimus M. (It got stolen, also once I found AF I wanted to "study" before I attempting anything.)
Got the ascend as a replacement, a week later I got the indulge; rooted it installed basic ^_^ good times
I thought my indulge was the shizznit

Yea I bought the Indulge as well soon after the Optimus M, got it when it came out for $400, when I look back that was the worst thing I could've done, such a waste of money, and looking at the S3 which is $500 which I can't afford right now makes me wish I had that money right now to buy the S3.

Since the thread is over hear now, and not in the OM forum, I'll reply over here. This is what I had replied on the other thread: Yep, the OM and OM+ forums have been pretty quite as of late. I don't have either of my OM's any more, and am still using the OM+ as my primary phone. Although, I will be moving onto the LG Spirit 4G sometime in the next of weeks. Like you, the OM was my first Android (let alone smart phone). I got it at 41 though, rather then the 16 you were. :) I learned a lot also.

I've been with Metro 2 years now, since Feb '11. The OM was my first Metro phone.

hmm, I too started with android, smart phones in general with the optimus m

I gave the phpne to my sister its still in use, as a wifi calling phone only no metro where she lives.
I never had the restarts and mess ups others reported but I did root and rom it (the hard way) when joniedy posted his how to. Those were good times I still love the optimus slow, small screen, yes but one thing I really like, the speaker phone speaker was the same as the ear piece speaker, made hearing music and voice much better in my opinion. That phone did not have external speaker on the back.
I really only had metro(for my own service) for a short time my wife still has metro then I switched to boost with the galaxy prevail,(switched to the sprint htc evo 4g, still on boost) Now I still have boost service but also have t mobile and a nexus 4. boost is unlimited calling, t mobile has much better data.
