Change HTC Hero Alarm to MP3

im trying to find to set an mp3 as my alarm notification but im not having any luck.

ive already tried this...

If you have properly done that ... then you may need to do a factory reset from the settings menus ..

ive created the following folders on the sd card,

alarm
alarms
media\audio\alarm
media\audio\alarms

i put an mp3 in each of these folders and it hasnt shown up.

when i put an mp3 in the following folder i was instantly able to set it as my notification sound:

media\audio\notification

You may still need to copy every off your sdcard to your PC ..(backup)
then .... Re-format SDCard to FAT32
put all you files back on ....

Then The directories that should work are ....

/sdcard/alarms
/sdcard/notifications
/sdcard/ringtones
/sdcard/ui

if these dont work then possibly you can use :

/sdcard/media/audio/alarms
/sdcard/media/audio/notifications
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
/sdcard/media/audio/ui

If that still doesn't work then time for Factory Reset

You said that you put an mp3 into a folder called :

media\audio\notification

But i have never heard of that working because at the least it should be notifications (plural) as should alarms, and ringtones ... the only on that is singular is case is UI

i redid it in the root, since that was cleaner

No I mean :

/sdcard/alarms

or...

/sdcard/media/audio/alarms

yes thats what i meant, the root of the sdcard!

Ok that is clear now ... so other know that this works on Hero the same way it works on G1

It is the User Interface .... you will almost never see this ... If EVER ...

Just include for reference ... rooted users may have more use for playing with this directory on the phone as opposed to just adding a supplemental/addtional location on the sdcard ..

Works just fine for me with no re-formatting.

Ringdroid can cut any mp3 then you have the option to set it as the alarm ringtone, really handy app
