Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Man, crazy news day for the Evo thanks for all the insight guys. I'm new to this and I've been reading the forum all day and finally decided to post. I just got the Sprint Hero for Christmas and I was not expecting to replace it anytime soon, but then the Evo came out and now I'm in love for the first time ;D. but today I was at the mall and I got a chance to play around with the HD2 to get a feel for how the Evo may feel in my hand boy is that thing HUGE. It's thin but the screen is absolutely beautiful. Records smooth and clear video, and takes better pictures than my Hero. I teared a little lol. But now I know what to expect from the Evo which will be even better! I'm on the edge of my seat for that phone. And I thought I was excited about getting the hero.. lol
remember the video quality and picture quality is gonna b better on the evo :)

That's what I was freaking out about the most! lol. How it was going to be almost twice as good on the Evo. I didn't wanna leave the mall playing with that HD2. Very nice phone, although the OS is a bit confusing. I'm glad the evo will have android with sense.

I truly wish people would quit referring to the next iphone as 4G it's only OS4 ... they will be 3g for a very long time to come.

Just Sayin'

That may very well be the name of the phone, 4G would just mean 4th generation but I know what you mean. It's very smart of them to do from a marketing point of view though, shady and sort of a play on words but smart. That's the issue with the Evo 4G, it can do 4G but the majority of the country won't be able to use that feature for a year or longer so sprint will need to make it clear that people shoudln't expect to be able to use all of those functions when they purchase the phone unless they live in a 4G area, with the Iphone 4G no promise of 4G speed is made so they aren't really telling any lies.

adolan when they say 4g iphone they mean generation to network so it makes sense to say 4G

but besides that . i noticed sinced i flashed my hero to 2.1 it saved my apps i downloaded in the download section of the market . so it's like a list of all your apps you downloaded and you do have to reinstall them but it helps from searching through all you had and keeps it in a list form . but once you back out it and go back in it will only show you what you recently had installed so i advise people to reinstall them while you are in the download section and then back out after reinstalling all of what you had . saves time for looking after all apps .

To me that white makes it look cheap for some reason, the black looks much better IMO. Ofcourse the black front with a white back looks pretty goofy anyway but that white just looks kinda cheapish. I would honestly love a gunmetal phone and have the red accent around the camera swapped for a shiny dark blue with it but I'm sure that won't happen.

RichboyJhae, you said you wanted to know how . Just go to this link : Official test release candidate for the Sprint Hero 2.1 leaked | Android Central . Hook you Hero up to the pc with the USB and mount it . Do what it says after you download the link I provided onto the pc . It's really simple . Back up anything you don't want lost cause it will wipe it all off . Do what it says and let it do it's magic . Dont freak out when you see it stuck on the HTC screen . It does that first time around . Let it run through and there you go . You will still receive the notice of the official update when sprint sends that out OTA for the Hero . So i will do it again when they send that out . Only thing this leak is missing is live wallpapers which I'm sure the official one wont have anyways and friendstream . that i know of .

and i dont think it would come half and half like that if it was white . i mean it's obvious thats a test one due the watermark looking things on the screen .

I'm off for the night . goodnight everyone and i hope more news can be shared tomorrow .

I just believe it has gone through fcc or will be soon. if I remember right the pre didnt till a month before release (or was the filing date ) so heck it could possibly not have gone through could have. Either way we wont be seeing any big changes to it. Be nice to see more then just 2 colors though. Ah well thats what skins are for.(assuming I even get one I dont like having the same phone as others on my account)

Okay, so by your words, show PROOF! If you're so skeptical about everything else, you just magically believe it passed FCC regulations? Come on man, stop heding on the fence one way or another. That's completely hypocritical. You can't call out people as if their F.O.S., but at the same time make some magical claims of belief without having proof yourself. That's such poor tastes, IMO.

I'm pretty sure Jackson said the white version would just be a white backplate with the black front. Which just seems bizarre because it looks terrible. I was excited when I heard about a white version till I heard that.

Okay, I'm moving on from ALL the negativity and turning this thread back into a POSITIVE nature before people started trying to argue about stuff that's not even worth arguing about.

Today, I decided to stop into an Apple Store and going on an idea that was posted on here, I decided to follow their lead. It was actually a lot of fun messing with the iPad's, although I couldn't figure out how to get the stupid thing to save as the default page, when opening a browser. Anyhow, here are some pics of the work I did at Apple.

Now THAT was some fun stuff. Would've gone around to every device to do it, but just didn't have a chance because the store was closing.

BTW, the FUNNIEST part of the experience was when another customer picked up the iPAD that I loaded up the full image of the EVO on the browser and said, "Ooh, check it out. This is the new phone from Sprint. That thing looks NICE."...HAHAHAHAHA

Ah, the things to do for enjoyment while killing time waiting for a family member to finish shopping at the mall.

Hope you all enjoy the pics and the story as much as I did.

Cool Video, I noticed on the back plate of the phone there was a sticker that said 'Updated'. I found it to be curious (Updated hardware? Updated Software/OS? Updated Firmware? could mean anything really, Updated weather?).

Also I tried to read the watermark over the display but could not make anything out of it.

Maybe I am just looking for a needle in the haystack, like I usually do. :)

I apologize if this was already posted. I didn't click on all the qik links so it might have.

that was supposedly taken with the evo 4g 20 days ago.

Although being shaky and jittery as other have mentioned, it has impressive quality even for just being a streamed video. You can see details in the wood grained floor and the cats fur coloring.

I don't know the details of what this is, and I may be speaking when I shouldn't, but I would be vary wary about flashing things to your phones ROM. It will likely void your phones warranty and make you 100% responsible for any problems that may or may not occur. I realize this is par for the course, but I think it is always good to responsibly include qualifiers before dishing out links. Maybe in the future you could PM things of this nature?

Engadget has put up their review of the Incredible:

Droid Incredible review -- Engadget

I know this is the EVO forum ;-), but a lot of the info about the usability and performance of the Sense UI on the Incredible should be very encouraging to those of us waiting for the EVO. The Incredible also has the same 8mp back camera, which Engadget was also impressed by.

The pictures are GREAT! Can't wait to use the EVO's camera!

Though I'm thanking you for the video, I'm mostly thanking you for the cat ;)

Hopefully when I move from my current apartment, I may eventually get a cat at my new place, and if I do, I sure as heck will be taking plenty of kitty videos with my phone.

I'm not so sure I'd let him play with it though...

If any of the reviews I've read about the HTC Incredible hasn't said enough about how "INCREDIBLE" the Incredible is....then I can just imagine what the reviews are going to say about HTC Evo!!! Since the software is pretty much the same and the camera/video, this gives us a pretty good look of what to expect and then some

The Evo is going to blow the fish out of the water.... you just wait and see!!!
