Root [Virgin Mobile] [Update]MC1 to MG5 update zip

Alright, I couldn't help myself, I just poked around and noticed that after flashing the update2.zip in this thread (flashing update2.zip over Victorious 0.2.2-R1 with the new VaeVictus MG5-OC kernel installed) the install-recovery.sh script was removed. So I just went back and copied it so that my storage swap works again.

More details on the process in my post here: http://androidforums.com/virgin-mob...-people-who-updated-firmware.html#post6051483

THANK YOU!!!

There is a good possibility this has been the issue for many. Now I can make a new release and double check that install-recovery.sh is present! ;)

So far I have yet to see anyone report that the baseband (bl2.zip) even works. It didn't work for me or for madbat. So far we are the only 2 on the forums who have tried and reported back.

It appears to flash just fine, but the baseband does not appear to be updated in the about phone section, and mms receiving is still broken.

so i think flashing the mg5 file messed my phone up, can i just boot into recovery and re flash the mc1 kernel without messing anything up, or does it not work like that, because id rather just use mc1 until something new and better comes out, because i dident have any issue when i had it before i flashed mg5

also when i flash it says checking for md5 file... then it says skipping md5 check then it says no md5 file found...is that a problem, i thought u needed an md5 sum, i could be wrong idk but i need some help, rverything was running good until today for some reason, and i dident do anything to mess it up, except flash mg5 file yesterday or whenever...im getting annoyed loll

What issue are you having.

If you just flashed the kernel then yes you can just flash another kernel. If you flashed the baseband zip then no. The baseband is part of radio and there's no way to go back[/QUOT

when i would go to open an app it would say it wasent installed, so i went into links2sd and tried to re link everything but it dident work only the lib files would relink, then my ext2internal switched backed and now my sd card says the same memory as my internal, im pissed because before i went to sleep everything was great, i just reflashed the 0.2.2r1 and mayb that will straighten things back out, but idk im not familiar with this kinda stuff when things go wrong, and i really dont understand links2sd, it says theres nothing on my sd card when i use the filter, its weird, i kno im doin something wrong but idk what it could be...

Okay, the MG5 update you flashed deleted a script.

You just need to take the file "install-recovery.sh" and place it in your "system/etc" folder.
You may also need to replace the "11extsd2internalsd" file in "system/etc/init.d" folder.

Then reboot.

I included the files in .rar format, so please don't be a "RAR-****"! DO NOT FLASH THIS FILE!!! :p

Just open it up I put the files in the folders tree they will go in. Even included these instructions in the file here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/48980837/MG5-FIX.rar !

i fixed it, all i did was flash o.2.2r1 again and it went back to normal, then i flashed the o.2.1.zip kernel, and everything was good, i havent tries and restarted it yet, but i may try and see if everything sticks this time
