Help One X will no longer charge in the car

My HTC One X will no longer charge in the car. (Yes, I already checked the cable, etc.) This happened on a previous One X. Not long thereafter the phone wouldn't charge at all, so I had to get a replacement.

Is this a common problem? Is my phone doomed?

It'd matter if you're running an app that needs a lot of amperage, like a navigation app.
Only a modified car charger like HTC's would deliver enough amperage for that app AND for charging your phone

You don't use such apps in the car?
Then you'd think of that your car charger might have a defect (or bad electronical design) that might have wrecked two phones of you.

It is a 1 amp charger. The phone charging LED no longer lights in the car. I'm doing less app-wise than I did before when it worked fine.

Again, the problem is NOT in the car or the cable. Interestingly, the phone would not charge this morning, but it would charge this afternoon. Strange.

Careful, you might send me off into my rant about how stupid and obnoxious it is to build battery powered devices without making it easy to replace the battery that WILL fail.

The port is fine. The problem is inside the phone. I've seen this before.

Though Apple's batteries are rather easy to replace

And I'm not exactly sure if it really was Apple to start with that. I'm pretty sure there might be other manufactures that did some of this BS before...

Tell that to the Ipod I managed to ruin trying to change the battery.

The IPod was different inside than the directions I had. I'm not sure if it was broken due to that, or if I just tried to do it too quickly. You can blame me, but I suspect that if I had had more accurate info, it probably would have not have broken.

Yes, that would be great. Unfortunately, the manufacturers apparently don't want their products to be user serviceable - not even for a battery replacement.
