Root [ROM] Angry Bean / CM 10.1 [build 08.08.13]

Not exactly the same issue, but I'd bet BIG BUCKS that it is playing a big part in this issue. For awhile now I've noticed this ROM (and a few other CM-based ROMs) have had issues related to the sound/mic. While having my phone plugged into my car via a Line-In/Line-Out cable and playing some music, say via Pandora or Spotify), and didn't unplug the LI/LO cable before using the mic to speak to the phone, after the audio is submitted, the audio would resume and sound garbled as hell with a huge change in quality. The only way I have found to fix this issue is a combination of unplugging/replugging the LI/LO cable and hitting play/pause multiple times. (If anyone else has noticed this issue, the fastest way I found is to unplug the LI/LO cable after the quality disruption, hit play/pause in quick succession (about 20 times), then plug the LI/LO cable back in and try it out. Should fix it, if not; repeat.) I had posted about this issue but never got a response... (back when g60 was the main maintainer of this ROM)

Was going to update to the 8-8-2013 build but I'll stay on the 7-17-2013 till this is fixed ;)

I'm on hboot 1.50. I ran the zip from the Joe blow hacks.
Are you: Rooted? S-OFF? Using 4EXT (Not REQUIRED, but recommended)?

Next would be, did you clear your cache/dalvik cache after running the joe_blow hacks?
PLEASE NOTE: Phone will NOT WORK after flashing these file! Yes you heard me, now that I have your annotation: do not forget to re-format your cache ( along with delvik ) after the flash. ...

Yeah I did that. And I'm s-off and rooted. I'm back to using SOS M rom right now. Using 4EXT. Should I maybe try smart flash? Any other ics rom with or without sense works.
Ok, well it sounds like something much deeper is causing the issue. My advice would be to start over completely fresh.

1) Factory restore your phone (I'm talking about returning it to TRUE factory default). I've extracted the latest RUU from the .exe for this phone (and this phone (Virgin Mobile HTC Evo V 4G (CDMA)) ONLY!) and created a flashable zip (much like the joe_blow hacks). I'm hosting a copy on MEGA which you can download from HERE. THIS WILL WIPE EVERYTHING, ROM, FILES, ROOT, ETC. I would recommend backing up your Micro SD Card (MSC) as well. Once you're ready, place the file on the root of your MSC, then boot into bootloader and follow the directions like if you were flashing the joe_blow hacks. There will be one reboot required (when prompted) during the process. Once everything is done flashing, you will have a phone as if it was just sent from the VM warehouse (software wise, it won't fix scratches, dings, etc. ;P)

2) Follow the fine guide HERE to root, unlock, etc. again.

To save you a headache or two, Team Unlimited stopped supporting Windows so you will need to create an Ubuntu Live CD to run the wire trick for S-OFF now days.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask =) Hope that helps.

You can still do it with Windows. We've always been able to, and Virgin/HTC hasn't patched anything, so it still works. Download the last version they released for Windows. Just know you just won't have support if you run into trouble. I just did another S-off in Windows less than a month ago using the last version they released for it. Silly to have to install a whole new OS just to run one tool.

So quick question, more of a survey really, for you guys. What's the most stable release of Angry Bean so far? I've been hearing nothing but problems with the mic in the latest (8-8-13) release. The reason I ask is because I'm still running on the 5-01-13 release which I've been using since release day. I've had little to no problems with that version, except for the occasional data drops which are fixed by toggling airplane on and off. MMS works fine. Heck, everything works fine. Guess that's why I never updated - if it ain't broke don't fix it. Just in the last week or so I've been noticing (maybe imagining) that I'm not getting notified of new texts coming in and figured its time for a new flash, so might as well update. Have there really been enough changes to newer versions to warrant an update or should I just reflash the one I'm using? What's changed in 3 months? What have I been missing out on? What's your daily driver?
Note: I know the ROM has changed hands and I'm using g60's version. This post made with all due respect to Chairshot, I respect and appreciate all the work you've put into this ROM and the Android community. Keep up the good work!

I've only use the last 3.
*I left 7/03/2013 was because my phone got too warm.
*So I gave 7/17/2013 a shot: Virtually no 4G & it rebooted often. But no more warm phone.
*8/08/2013 is great but no mic. But since I use my headset all the times I'm able to get by. Can't record anything tho but w/e.

Hope this helps in your decision.

I absolutely agree, however the last time I did an S-OFF, nobody was hosting the files. If you have the files and would like to up them to a host (Dev-Host being my personal favorite due to its speed) myself and I'm sure others will be thankful =)

If you are soff now, and flash ruu through boot loader, you will still have s off when done...you will have a stock phone and stock recovery, but will still have s off.

You don't even need to unlock, just flash recovery through fast boot, and flash away...

You don't have to install anything. Running ubuntu from a live disc or thumbdrive doesn't touch your hdd. It runs in RAM and disappears when the computer shuts down.

Quick question. When the file finishes downloading is it supposed to be only 120 some megabytes? Cuz at the download screen it says its over 400
So quick shameless promotion: MEGA is the successor to Megaupload made by Kim Dotcom. MEGA is geared at high security and data protection so you have to leave the window open while the file downloads "in the background" completely, then once the download has been verified as completely downloaded by the server, it'll push the normal save dialogue. The file should be 432.8 MB (or within a few MB of that; I'm on a Mac, might show different on different machines depending on different factors).

File supposed to be 151.33 MB; it tells u on the page.
You should only be d/l'ing the file from Vmobi Browser [Unless told otherwise by G60 or Chairshot] & always check the MD5 to be absolutely sure.

Thanks. I finally got it. Can you perform OTA updates with this? When in bootloader it still says s-off. Just wondering cuz I noticed this isnt the 2.95 updated ron
