Wrong! That means that I have to finish what I'm doing on the phone, get out of bed, turn the lights on, plug in my phone, turn the lights off, and then get back in bed. Ain't happening. I know, First World issue big time :D

Great minds think alike. Especially on nights where I'm extra tired and am running on little-no sleep, having to do what you mentioned can get on my nerves.

BTW, I know you and Kolio got the Tylt, but I've been looking at some other intriguing options:

or this

@Chief
X-mas is coming - maybe someone will get you a 'Clapper' for your light so you won't have to get up to turn it off.

CLAP-ON...CLAP-OFF :D

Smart choices, just say NO to proprietary chargers! :D

The USB standard w/these definitely makes for a simpler/neater desktop/nightstand/etc.......

Is the charging pad above better than the Nokia DT-900 here?

Amazon.com: Nokia DT-900 Wireless Charging Plate - Retail Packaging - Black: Cell Phones & Accessories

There aren't many reviews for the Docooler combo, but tons for the Nokia model (which apparently is unofficially compatible with Galaxy devices with the right battery coil receiver).

Just got this in today:

Nokia Wireless Charging Pillow by Fatboy Specifications - Nokia

Which basically has the same specs.Gonna perform a quick 1hr test for charge rate, see ya in an hour........

Just as w/the other QI chargers I've posted/reviewed on, this one also charges @ 25% per hr.,roughly 1/2 the rate of the OEM wall charger.

There are multiple threads discussing wireless charging, but I think those all can be merged.

Wanted to bump up this thread to see if anybody had issues with the qi wireless receiver having trouble connecting. My IT guy got his before mine came in and we tried it out on my qi wireless charging pad, but had no luck with it connecting consistently. We know it's not the charging pad because he also purchased the OEM back cover and that thing started charging immediately after placing the phone down.

For those of you that just got the qi receiver card, please chime in.

Just got mine in today,drexappeal:

Amazon.com: Docooler Qi Standard Wireless Charging Receiver+Qi Wireless Charger Transmitter 10000mAh Mobile Power Bank for Samsung Galaxy Note III 3 N9000 N9005: Cell Phones & Accessories

So far,so good, got it charging on the TYLT QI charger w/no problem:

TYLT • VU • Wireless Charger

Just a word on the receiver:

The picture shows 3 contacts, mine only has two & I placed the receiver so that it makes contact w/the upper two prongs on the side (where there are three).Otherwise, everything else is physically identical to the picture, receiver & charging unit.
Just a lucky guess on my part,as this is apparently the correct placement. :D

Keeping track of 1 hr charge rate, will post a follow-up within the hour.

Can you try it with the 10k backup battery / qi wireless charging pad? That's the one we were having trouble with. At first, it would identify, but it's taking way longer than I would want (ideally) for it to pick up the wireless signal. My IT guy has the OEM Samsung charging pad, and it seems better at picking up the signal, but it still needs to be strategically aligned.

When you get a chance, would you mind checking it out in conjunction with the Qi backup battery/charging pad? I guess there is one thing with the OEM Samsung wireless back cover that adds convenience because that thing picked up the signal without needing to position the phone "just right."

I think I've identified the cause of the intermittent/finicky connection w/the non-OEM QI Receiver (& any charger):

The receiver actually causes a "dome/crown" effect w/the OEM non-QI battery cover, which in turn has less contact surface, causing the intermittent charging.

My TPU Case:

TPU Soft Case Back Cover Skin Shell for Samsung Galaxy NOTE3 III N9000 N9005 New | eBay

& to a greater extent,my TPU BUMPER Case:

Amazon.com: Bear Motion for Galaxy Note 3 - Premium Bumper Ring Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Note III (Black) (Black): Cell Phones & Accessories

adds some stability, which provides for a steady charge.

I'll be looking for a QI receiver that touts a thinner profile to alleviate this issue.

If only I could test out the difference to see! But this is something I'll keep in mind, in case my Qi receiver has the same intermittent charge issue.

Maybe someday we'll get true wireless charging, I mean a technology that allows to charge the phone over the air like a cell signal, that'd marvelous!

As a matter of fact that's what came to my mind when I first heard "wireless charging" lol, for now with those prices and very little convenience, no thanks.

Well, one cool technology I have heard rumors/rumblings about was that cellphones will be able to use other cellphone radios (kinda like routers or signal boosters), to boost coverage. I don't know how the technology would actually work, but I was definitely interigued by the concept.

This cheap one I got from Amazon works just fine for my G2.
Amazon.com: Black QI Wireless Charger pad with Receiver for SAMSUNG Galaxy S4: Cell Phones & Accessories
Works great even with a case on my phone. It's a little finicky for where you have to place it, but no problems.

This is kinda the issue I was referring to. With the OEM charging back cover that my IT guy and I tested out, one could place the phone on the charging pad (I have the non-OEM 10kmah backup battery/charging pad) and it would identify, regardless of placement. With just the charging receiver in the OEM (non-qi wireless) cover, you have to fiddle around with placement until it finally identifies and the spot doesn't seem to be "consistent."

I'm trying to find a solution that would be the same every time I place the phone on a Qi charger.

Okay folks, I finally got the Docooler charging coil in the mail today! The 3 contacts don't snap into place or anything, so I gingerly placed the contacts over the phone contacts and secured the tab with electrical tape. Did it work? Stay tuned...

One problem: the S-View cover uses the same contacts in the phone! So take your pick: but you can't use both the S-View cover AND the wireless charging coil. You will need an OEM wireless charging s-view cover. Good luck finding one. Alright, the verdict:

With the Docooler charging coil in the phone, I put the stock back on the phone and placed it on the Tylt Vu charger. Worked like a charm! :D

While it may not charge as fast as a wired power connection, I will have all night long for it to do its thing. Unless I wake up and it's still not completely charged, I am happy as... well, happy as a Chief with a wireless charging Note 3!

Note to self, never purchase one of these things from ebay!...LOL. My coil was supposed to deliver yesterday, after 3 weeks since initially ordering. It supposedly delivered today, but we'll see.

Nonetheless, once I get it in the phone, I'll test it out with my Qi wireless car charger and I might make a short video showing potential one hand docking (although, it'll be really difficult to do with the galaxy note 8.0).
