Battery Life

Okay here is what I have got so far 15 hours. 2 gmail accounts Google now on but location reporting off. Bluetooth on all day along with WiFi was on WiFi most of the day but was not LTE for about 3 of the 15 hours without WiFi. Location set to battery saving mode. On AT&T not bad. About the same as I was getting with my HTC one GPE

Battery still hasn't been great for the last two days, though there has been a slight improvement. I still have to plug it in as soon as I'm home from work, which I rarely had to do with the HTC One.

Currently sitting at 54% after 5h 4m 51s and just 23m 56s of screen time.

What all falls under google services? I notice that doesn't even show up in others screenshots, but it is second on my list at 23%, just behind the screen.

At least mine seems to charge pretty quickly.

That's really strange, I am at 79% with 7h14m on and 40m screen time. Running mostly stock with the Qualcomm battery guru on (but still learning). I also have wifi and bluetooth on at all times and even did some maps navigation.

I know a lot of people seem to be having battery issues but it has been fantastic for me. On TMobile if it makes a diff.

i suffer no hardships doing this -

Battery Tips for Android

1. Toggle off GPS, BT, NFC, Hotspot/Tethering. Toggle on only as needed. (Switch to "Battery Saving" Mode).
2. Display Brightness - Turn off Auto Brightness and Reduce Setting Bar to Minimum Acceptable to you.
3. Sign out of any unused Google Services like G+, Google Now, etc.
4. Disable Location Reporting/History.
5. Beware of constantly syncing in background Apps and Bloatware like Facebook, Twitter, Google News and Weather, Google Currents, Non-Push Email, etc. Set Sync interval for every 1 hour or more and change settings to stop the syncing of data you don't need. Delete the Apps you never use.
6. Turn Off Hot Word "Hotword Detection" Always Listening Mode in Google Search if you don't use it.
7. Turn Off Auto Camera/Photo Upload or at least set it for Upload on WIFI Only.
8. Turn Off Vibrate on Touch for Display, Keyboard, etc.
9. Turn Off Touch Sounds and Unlock Sounds.
10. Don't use Live Wallpaper. Use a dark wallpaper if possible.
11. Set Display Sleep Setting to 2 Minutes or Less.
12. Set WIFI to Always stay on during Sleep if you regularly use WIFI.
13. Uncheck "Always Scanning" in WIFI settings.
14. Turn Off Always Vibrate in Gmail/Email.
15. Be careful of using too many Live Widgets and what/how often they sync.
16. Set MS Exchange Sync at 30 Days or Less.
17. Do NOT use a Task Killer App or Battery Saver App.

"I SUFFER NO HARDSHIPS DOING THIS"

this means that i personally am giving up NOTHING with these tips. i'm not giving up any features. there are no tradeoffs for me. a tradeoff or a hardship would be to turn off PUSH email or use AIRPLANE mode during the day etc.

you find your own balance and the tips list is a start but you must come to your own conclusion as to what's important. it's personal preference but these are not a big deal to me at all as they do not affect the function or operation of my phone. these tips do not deteriorate my experience.

Heres mine for the first half or so day. Overall, to me, not exactly satisfactory.

I dont mind an average camera and quiet speakers and some Hangout bugs; software can fix most of that.

But a bad battery? Now that is a no no. I got a lot of tweaks ahead of me until I get back to the level I want.

I did charge a little bit near the middle (about 3-4%), so the results are slightly inflated. Keep in mind.

This is with the screen not on auto, at minimum brightness for most of the time with about 5-10% above the auto barrier near the last 25% of the run.

It is at 5% at the end.

Yes, I have come to the conclusion that I'm happy with it, whether or not it could be better. It exceeds my old phone hands down. I forgot to charge it before leaving the house yesterday - sure that it would die before I came home. I turned off wifi and data. It was at 30 percent. Even turning everything off and not using it, it would have been dead before I came home (almost 8 hours) with my old phone. With the Nexus 5, I even used the camera, turned the data on from time to time to show off OK Google (I know, I'm a nerd, but so are my friends :D ) and texted a bit, and it was at 4 percent when i got home. I think i'm in love LOL

That's pretty good.

I've had some bad battery life the last few days, but they haven't been my normal usage patterns. Today I'm mostly writing my preliminary thesis papers and I'm down to 83 % after 30 minutes of screen on time, 15 minutes of talk, and 2.5 hours off charger.

Still pretty disappointing, but once Franco gets his device in hand I'll move to his kernel and I'll have a lot more control over gaining battery life.

Friday I was streaming music by Bluetooth in my car (over the network from Google music all access) and using the gps at the same time (with screen on) and it was using very little battery and the phone stayed cold. In comparison the Nexus 4 in similar condition was getting really hot to the point it was refusing to charge and the battery was draining real fast.

The Nexus 5 is really superior to the Nexus 4 and real close to the HTC one.

Compared to the nexus 5, the HTC one have a far superior screen, camera is a bit better and the speaker are far superior.

Performance wise they are both really fast phone (way faster then the laggy nexus 4) and they both hold better in hand (The nexus 4 feel clunky and slippery).

I really did not like that nexus 4 even if I got it for $199.

So far my favorite phone I had from the best to worst:
1. HTC One
2. Nexus 5
3. Galaxy Nexus
4. Iphone 4
5. Nexus 4
6. HTC EVO 3D
7. Bunch of Blackberry.

I still would pick a galaxy nexus over an nexus 4 even for today usage. The galaxy nexus was more solid and only a bit slower. Since it's 1 year old more the nexus 4 I think it's an impressive phone.

I just sold my HTC one, I will stick with the Nexus 5, at least I'm sure I will get the update as quick they release + I like the bigger screen even if the colour are not as good then the HTC one screen.

Back on battery life, make sure you fully charge your phone when you get it, it's always recommended and it ensure you won't affect your battery life in the future. That's what I did and my battery have been quite impressive (except after the first charge).
