As far as I know the only way you can get screencap capability is when rooted...using an app like drocap2.

Install the Android SDK and then connect your handset to the PC (via USB) with the USB Development mode switched on. You can then screengrab anything off the handset directly onto the PC using one of the SDK apps.

It's obviously not as convenient as screengrabbing on the phone itself, but at least you don't need to have rooted your handset to do it.

I am aware of that method but it is not feasable to carry around a laptop and my phone all day.
