Root [Virgin Mobile] [ROM][MK5][STOCK][ODEXED/DEODEXED]- Virgin Mobile/Boost Mobile

Thanks for this! Went very smoothly.

I am new to 4.3 so there are some things that are odd.

First the text notifications on the lock screen. wtf.
I get the same thing that happens here...
http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s4/721292-text-notification-lock-screen-problem.html

Second, this might be a problem with my adw launcher, but if I click on an email from the notification pane and then back out of email, it takes me to the stock launcher and not my ADW launcher. Texts don't do it, just email read in the gmail app. Unable to duplicate at this time.

Third, I got a bunch of Virgin and Samsung apps reinstalled. I guess they weren't stripped off the ROM or did the play store screw me somehow?

I have been getting the same text notification problem as was shown in that thread, but I am getting it with DashClock. I was assuming that it was just a 4.3 thing and that it was used to unlock the phone. But is something actually supposed to appear in the box?

Hi. I am on 4.3 and have been trying to install the MK5 rooted rom for a while. Everytime I try all I get is:

Opening Update
Installing Update
Update Installed

However, when I try to boot I am just stuck at the boot logo. But, seeing as this flash only takes about 20-30 seconds I know its not really being flashed. What am I doing wrong?

Have you tried a clean install?
Wipe system, cache, data, dalvik cache.

This is complete stock.

Nothing has been removed or added other than the removal of everything Knox related.

With this being a stock rom, expect stock apps including those from Virgin and Samsung. They can be removed or frozen.

Yes I've tried a clean install several times. I also just tried to install the MOAR rom for the virgin mobile s3 and that rom went through the whole flashing process but I still got stuck at the boot logo.

Did you check the md5? If you did a fresh install(including wiping data), and followed the install instructions exactly, then it's probably a bad download. Try downloading it to your pc again, then putting it on your sd card, then check md5, and flash again

The MD5 matches. But I'll redownload it and see what happens.

I just flashed this Rom (deodex) with custom kernel and it seems that the gyroscope is off and I can't find the option or an app that would help me calibrate it.. I was playing asphalt 7 and when I keep the phone straight the car goes to the right ... there are galaxy s3 with the option to calibrate it on (settings/motion/sensitivity setting/gyroscope calibration) our doesn't have it .. why.. is there a way you can add that option ?

I have been reading and researching for you all morning :) And from everything I have read, Google has removed the gyroscope calibration option in 4.3. Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer.

been running solid the only things to report are ... random locks with incoming call (cant answer at all and lock screen is unresponsive have to pull batt and restart.) some random lock up when below 40 % battery (lock screen refuses to go homescreen) on day i get a logcat or crash dump...

sometimes apps refuse to install from playstore (reboot fixes)

fixed: was a system app space issue fixed

messaging app stock works better but still have to use facebook to send picture text.
tried using the hangout apn method to fix unknown weather it takes the apn list is not there only add and save

will retest with my next pic. could be an issue with the receiving service.

Followed Op clean flash with suggest touch recovery (without knox bootloader or apps confirmed via download mode)

tried clear dalvik and such but being a random issue i am living with it. i also have a morphie battery case to help with the issues.

No over clocking or volting or under clocking and volting Stock kernel.

I'm really not understanding how you are having all of these issues. First I've heard of them. The build has been running flawless for me with none of the issues you describe. In fact, this build is running much smoother than the previous MG2 build. I updated to MK5 via the stock ota and ran that for a little while. Did a wipe and installed this build and it runs even better than the MK5 build that was pushed to me. You might want to check your apps for conflicts, customizations causing issues, etc as the issues you are experiencing seem to be isolated to your device only.

I would have to agree on this one. I am by not means trivializing the issues you're experiencing, but it sounds to me like you have something funky going on within your phone that is causing this that's unrelated to the build. I used to have some of these issues with my SII when I'd flash stuff on top of stuff, switch from CM to TW to AOSP, etc, etc. My advice, if you would like to use this build, since you're having so many issues, is to go back 100% stock and build from there. These issues sound like kernel and OS issues, not necessarily build issues. I know you probably know this, but you can't restore anything from Tb that's system related, and all of the fixes you're trying may actually be making things worse. The Playstore issue is a Google issue, because I have had it before on other roms. Just clear cache and data in application manager, and it should fix it right up. Hope it all works out for you. But if you're not on the Knox bootloader, my advice, flash a tar back to MG2, or even MD7, and flash again. Good luck my friend.

Very nice job of housekeeping today Britton, now the sticky section looks very appropriate from the standpoint of having very relevant info for newer users. One million thumbs up! Congrats on the sticky as well JD, you deserve it buddy. Another million thumbs up for you and all you do!

the issues in terms of lock up have only happened twice total so it is not that bad as i made it sound. each tie a reboot fixed it. same for the call incoming locking up. i think it was daydreaming that was on now off so far no issues.

Has anyone found a way to solve the 64 gb card ejecting without reformatting the card? I'm a couple of days from access to a PC and a little leery of reformatting the card. It took so long to get it working in the first place...
Thanks!

Hello all. I did a clean install (deodexed) using philz. I installed mk5, WiFi update, & supersu update, everything went smooth and works fine. I have an annoying little problem tho,I keep getting repeat notifications of attachments that I have long since deleted. I clear the notifications and they reappear later. The process keeps repeating. Its not a big deal, its just aggravating. Thanks for any advice I can get about this.

This happened to me too. Go into settings/application manager/all, and clear data and cache of both downloads and download manager. That'll do the trick
