I have setup my gmail properly(gmail app), but for some reason it does not want to fetch my mail or if it does it does 20 mins later or so. Anyone else having this problem and i have hard reset and checked all settings for data sync. I have not seen this problem so i am thinking it a software problem. I just want to know if anyone has setup using gmail and is getting mail pushed to them right away. Also i know its not push mail but it suppose to come kinda close.

I have the same Issue. It was after I went to the market and went crazy getting apps. I am thinking the problem lies there.

Think I got it.

I get my gmail through the HTC client, but I need to pull it to refresh. My normal Gmail APP was working but stopped pushing and pulling. It actually says NOT CONNECTED (even when I refresh it says this) What could cause this?

Just found this under: Menu->Settings->Data Synchronization. It has a red exclamation point next to GMail and shows Oct. 12, 2009 8:25a.m. (Today is October 13 8:37pm) Now that I think about it that is when it stopped pushing.

Also at the very bottom it says: Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.

SO I went in and did the following: Menu>Settings>Applications(manage applications)>Manage Applications> go to Gmail APP and clear the data.

That fixed it!!

Im not sure how often the Hero syncs with Auto Sync, or on what time frame.

The only real option would be to force sync if you dont feel you are getting regular notifications.

Unless someone has found where to change the sync times. I havent run across it yet.

Im such a noob when it comes to android like how do you force pull or push. I am pulling my hair cus it wont get my emails in a timely fashion it can take hours or half hour.
Gmail? Gmail is push. The others would be pull.

Menu > settings > Data Sync > Google >

Make sure everything there is checked. To force a sync, just uncheck and recheck the one for Gmail.

Thank you i taught there was a hidden setting to keep forcing the gmail app. I get it thanks anyhows but as of right now my exchange is the only thing working.

Everything is checked, but there is a huge delay receiving Gmail notifications. I swapped my htc hero for another one last night and the new one doesn't sync gmail instantly like it's supposed to. (I swapped the phone to get the "with google" logo on the back thinking I would get rev.A, still says rev.0)
