Problem with Android updates.

For some reason when i go to check to see if there are any updates(like the 4.4 update) it keeps coming up with this message

The software update service is not available.

Maximum number of roll-out updates has been exceeded.try later or update your device using Samsung Kies.

so what is all that about?

Its telling you that the ota updates is over check kies for updates . u have to download with PC or laptop and get drivers and USB cable that came with the phone and update through kies

Many thanks for that but why is it telling me to update via Kies when on all other Android phones or tablets ive had i could just click on check updates and it would update OTA?

Manufacturers roll out a limited number of updates over the air, after that you can see what else is available.

Its almost like a rom or custom rom where its alot of things they rewrite and add so to stop the users from asking about why they didn't get the update . they answer your questions with this lovely tool and believe it or not many of the top manufactures have this such as LG ELECTRONICS, SAMSUNG, MOTOROLA,

I haven't seen 4.4 for any Tabs so far. However since it's designed to run on more hardware than earlier versions, we may see something in the upcoming updates.

Boy on my job has CyanogenMod on his Acer its smooth but force close when his cache is dirty he be watch porn on it

Yeah my s3 is on a 4.4 rom but im wondering why the OP is trying to get official 4.4 OTA for his tab when it probably isnt available yet. I dont think the Note 3 even has kitkat yet and its a lot newer :thumbup:

My Galaxy could only be updated via kies. Just plug in and do it, and if course, be happy that you are among the blessed who get Kitkat at all

Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (not sure about other sizes) will have its last update at version 4.2.2. it won't get 4.3 or 4.4 except through a custom ROM. it runs CM11 nightlies well but those ROMs are meant for the P5110, not the P5113TX, and require updater-script hacking to flash onto the P5113. the only bug is Google Now placing you in London, England, i am guessing the ROM is meant for international devices. not really sure the differences between those two models

Nope, although iirc SFR (France) leaked that it was expected to be rolled out "by the end of January". There's been nothing concrete from Samsung themselves, but with the Note 3 update now underway I can't see it being long until the S4 follows suit.
