Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] 4.3 Available

alright guys lets keep our cool. seeing as it still isnt posted on samsungs opensource site i decided to message them to find out the truth behind all this. per gpl they are legally required to provide source for any form of the Linux kernel they put out publicly. an ota to 1 person or 5 million counts as public.

in the mean time we should avoid ripping each others throats out, should sam wish to back his claims up and provide files i would hope he would have quite teh opposite reaction from everyone and people would be singing his praises.

https://twitter.com/Shabbypenguin/status/429811017174900736 here is teh tweet to them, dont imagine it will get answered until monday same goes for the email i sent. but at least you guys can watch any progress on that tweet if there is any :)

if they go ahead and post source it doesnt much overall, it just means i can compile a custom 4.3 zImage, but it will prove same was speaking the truth without him rooting. but the source will do nothing to help make a 4.3 rom for us :/

I would be more then willing to provide a system dump. In all honestly I don't how - only rooted phones with detailed instructions from what it is posted if it was not for the info I wouldn't have known how.

However, if providing a system dump requires me to root the phone which in turn will trip the counter due to Knox then I won't be willing to provide system dump since I was actually dumb enough to have purchased my S3 at a discount from Fry's in April 2013 knowing that MetroPCS / T-Mobile deal.

one thing that caught my eye is odd, on all previously tars the codes have been

R530MVQAMF2

you can see the model number in green, the software version in red which left a string i never really knew exactly what was. on all the tars they are labeled VQA anyone know if they are actually something different in the settings menu? cuz sam's screenshot shows VQU.

brown357 tossed me the update.zip, ill provide it on mega (my filehosting has been throttled to upload speeds of 20kbps so woulda taken 8 hours to upload vs 40 mins) unaltered. keep in mind that using it will include knox and thus flash the bootloaders.

ill begin working on removing the bootloader files from the update.zip as soon as i can so that we can have someone use a custom recovery to update and then provide image files for odin. for anyone wanting this ota you will need to be on absolute stock mf2 for it to apply, it wont apply even if you have cwm/twrp. once i have my modded update.zip i can put it online or if someone doesnt care if they blow their knox fuse after doing the official ota and rooting we can get some odin images from that person.

ill need to make a 4.3 compatible unbrick image, and once i have the 4.3 images ill begin work on metropolis updated, someone ping Ldrifta and to tell him to stop sleeping hes got work to do :p.

also finally got a reply on mk5 kernel source (not that it matters anymore) http://i.imgur.com/PgOpav8.png

no thats the stock update

kies seems to have it so someone could snag the odin tar that way, i managed to find a ebay listing with a bad MIED in the picture, converted that to dec esn and tried to use it in kies and it told me r530m doesnt support initializing :( so i couldnt download it myself, perhaps someone who isnt updated yet could though.
