I just got the G2 on Saturday and love it! It was a hard decision being I had an S4 and loved it (the battery life, ir blaster, split screen, call quality, noise cancellation, official bumper case, etc.). I had a T-Mobile Jump burning a hole in my pocket and I had it narrowed down to a Nexus 5, G Flex, or Xperia Z1s.
I stayed away from the Nexus 5 because of the battery life. The G Flex was awesome, but I will wait for the next iteration where hopefully LG will have most of the kinks worked out that comes with new technology (it was also almost $200 more than the G2). The Xperia Z1s handled sluggishy even though it has the same internals (maybe it was just the floor model?). I've also heard people say the battery doesn't last as long as it should. But, if the Xperia had "knock on" I may have bought it! LOL
Anyway. I'm blown away at how fast the G2 is! It was clearly faster than the phones I tried at T-Mobile listed above (again, maybe it was just floor models with issues?). I love the IR blaster more than the one on my S4 (so cool making my own remote for my Sony stereo). The "knock on" feature is great and I'm catching myself doing it on other devices. I'm only on my second charge and getting excellent battery life! Being able to change LED colors for different contacts and having the LED light rim around the power button light up for notifications and during phone calls is nifty too. I wanted to support LG for trying something different with the back button placement (works pefectly). I've had zero software or hardware issues so far (but the phone is new).
My only concerns are I'm using the official LG folio case which I'm pretty sure won't protect the phone during a fall. I'm a big sucker for Samsung's official bumper cases (the ones for the S4 are some of the best cases ever made for a phone -- really high quality and don't wear down). I was hoping LG would make their own bumper case to fit the phone like a glove. A lot of generic cases are hit and miss for me. Also, my screen protectors don't seem to fit the phone (I was stuck with the T-Mobile brand being that was all they had and no one else was carrying protectors). I'm not sure if this is because of the curved glass at the edges? May have to order others online. The charger port and usb cable is a really tight fit. I'm worried I'll break the port. Also, I find the speaker to be a little soft.
Update: Speakers seem really loud and clear now. I played with the sound settings a little bit and I can hear music playing on my phone on a different level of my house. Speaker phone was also really loud and clear today. Definitely louder than my S4, but it may be because the speakers are located on different spots of the devices.
