I think there's something wrong with my wifi antenna because whenever I connect to a router, either mine or my school's, I can only go to the first page of a bookmark. If I click on any link, I get taken to an error page saying there's no connection.

This has been going on since 1.5, so I'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue. So I just use 3G.

Take it in to the store. You're covered under a one year warranty. Best scenario is you have 1.5 and not 2.1. Even if you have 2.1, give it a shot and see if they can fix it. 2.1 isn't an unofficial upgrade, so try and make your case.

It seems like my wifi is working more reliably now. Maybe the v3 helped the antenna...

For those of you that use wifi a lot, do you have your settings set to "never sleep"? Does wifi really make that much of a difference in battery life? Thanks.

I have a Droid. I have a prog that sets my WiFi on at home and at work and I use 3G elsewhere. I did a very non-scientific test about battery life and this is what I have found.

I take the phone off the charger at the house at 6:00 am and put it back on the charger at 10-11:00 pm. With WiFi never on I would get home with between 20 and 40% battery depending on usage. I did this for a week. Then I did the WiFi at work and at home. Typically, using WiFi, I plug the phone in at night with between 60 and 70% remaining battery. I am running stock OS. During that two week period, I did not connect my phone to any charging devices or computers so I could see the real difference. IMHO, WiFi is definitely a battery saver and it is much faster than 3G (even with good signal.)

My wife has an Eris and I'm trying to get her to do the same, but being allergic to technology; she never does.

Anyway, Happy WiFi-ing,

What's the name of it?

Sorry, I didn't see this earlier. The program's name is Setting Profiles by Probeez. The dev keeps it up to date and responds to questions on the Google group set up for that. There is a trial version that allows one profile and then the paid version is just a couple of bucks. Well worth the money.
