if buying today - would you buy your note 3 again

I guess its all relative based on what you find important and "must have". I may not update for a faster processor but I would seriously consider it for a better display, battery or memory. So, while some crazy fools will be camping out in lines waiting on those new iPhone 6's with the lousy batteries, I'll be quietly plotting my acquisition of the Note 4 because an improvement to the Note 3 is just going to be better. :D

I'd jump at a far better radio [phone]. Not going to happen. :(

so grabbed my note 3 on the vz promo today.

white

looking for a case now. thank you all for your help and input. Why I didn't way for the 4

rumor has it they are going to make an attempt with their own processor and SOC base design again - while it will have a qhd screen and some other nice - supposedly 64 bit. the processor and soc are a touch too new for me to jump onto.

there is also talk the new note 4 will debut their new OS overlay and that's just too much new in one box for me to want.

besides I got a great price

Looking for a case now.

There as many opinions as there are cases and a number of threads on this here.

I'm more than happy with my UAG but you have to decide if you want max protection and big or less protection and smaller. Also do you want a flip cover or not?

Otterbox seems to be a common choice for those after maximum protection and bulk.

If you opt for a ZeroLemon huge battery for extended life then it comes with a big case anyway.

Congrats! Not a bad purchase at all, especially if you got a good deal. Enjoy.

Hands down...YES! No question about it. Love it. The Note 3 signal is much improved over my old Samsung Galaxy Nexus. So, even though Motorola may overall have better signal, the Note 3 isn't far behind it.

Another note: I have the Zerolemon 10,000 mah battery and case for my Note 3 and love it. The case is tough and I can go 5 days without recharging it...makes it feel like a real phone. http://zerolemon.com/

so here's the deal - I have had my Moto Razr for over 2 years and it's been great.

no case, no screen sticker, solid - held up to whatever. always worked and I could go 2 days on it if I had to.

it's been awesome - I even rooted it eventually. so, today it died - the bank shot was epic, so there is that.

however I need a new device - and I'm leaning toward a few things but I keep coming back to a note 3.

so you all that own one - would you buy it again today if you had the choice to.

I'm torn between the note 3, the Galaxy 5 and the potential of the LG G3. moto is sadly dead to me
I would pull the trigger on the note

Napalm, one suggestion I do have is to go in and check the lg g3 out, before your return period is up. It's definitely a worthy contender for top smartphone honors.

I would actually be extremely suggested Samsung Galaxy S3

yup I'd buy it again without question. Its brilliant in almost all aspects....the camera could be better...

Absolutely YES! Its probably the most complete smartphone that I have ever used, having owned the original Note I really appreciate the stylus and large screen.

In almost every aspect... sound quality, speed, battery life, quality of screen, it all excels. The camera however is a little bit of a let down, but it is adequate in good lighting condition.

I have been tempted and tested both HTC One (M8) and the S5 before choosing to buy the note 3, and I am glad that I did.

The note 3 is a solid android device.

That's definitely an interesting experience. I would've liked to see how far the Note 3 has came compared to the Note 1. The Note series always seemed like a device I needed to try out. I am very happy I did, I just would of enjoyed trying out the original.

As a phone it's awful. I'm told all smartphones are bad but the Note 3 is truly dreadful. Falls out in many areas completely where a ten-year-old dumb phone is solid.

Battery life is also dreadful but I'm told comparable to other smartphones. Also awful.

If those 10 year old "dumb phones" did half the things today devices did they're battery life wouldnt be any good either. Unfortunately battery technology hasn't kept up with camera, miniaturization, CPUs, gpus, ect.

You should be able to get a least a full day of use out of any current flagship smartphone - which honestly is about as much as most people need.

Outside of the battery - smartphones are far superior to their older counterparts.

You are carrying the equivalent of a tiny computer in your pocket - internet, email, relatively advanced games, messaging, ect

I bet "actually using a phone as a phone" accounts for less than 5% of my daily use.

I've heard all this before and I'm unimpressed. (1) the batteries are much bigger and (2) you've already made the other point.

My last phone gave me 5 days which suited me fine. Still very unimpressed with the new 'well under a day'. People have been joking about it all the time now in light of the new security air travel regs. I think "most people" have a reasonable expectation for 24 hours of use rather than a measly 6.

Yes I know it's a computer and the battery life is awful and the "phone" capabilities are pathetic. We don't all live or work in cities with a tower every two blocks.

In both aspects, phones have got worse and I really don't think there's any excuse for such inadequate reduced phone-phone performance. What were they thinking of?

Honestly you can get an extended battery. I have heard that the 6000mAh batteries last a few days.

I have also heard that the 10000mAh battery lasts like up to a week. :)

Compared to a tablet or a laptop the battery is miles better. Just plug it in when you go to bed and its fully charged when you wake up. Seriously, unless you live where there is no electricity what's the big issue?

I'm comparing it to the ten year old phone I was using until last year. Not to a laptop. I don't carry the laptop around to make phone calls on or rely on it for that.

I am frequently nowhere near any mains power for 12-14 hours. Woe is me if it's 36 hours.

There are ways round this, I know. For instance if I know I'm going to be in that situation, I have a 12000mAh External power pack brick. Used it three days ago after 8 hours in the city when my phone flattened itself. I've got spare batteries. I've also got a zerolemon but I tend not to use that as it makes the phone too big for the shoulder holsters I've always used. But this is not good. Not impressive at all.

None of which deals with the fact that these things are really hopeless as phones. This is 10-15 years on. Phones have actually got worse as actual phones is what I'm saying. They are big enough for a bigger internal aerial so what gives?

(One of these days I'm going to have to install a micro-cell at home. Never had that problem before with any phone. It doesn't help that micro-cells are illegal here.)

If you want just a phone and for it to last 5 days, why have you bought a computer, camera, scanner, games device, email system, network device, and everything else from a music player to a torch? They can only do so much and there has to be a compromise. Unfortunately batteries haven't kept up with tech. I agree it needs to be better but then you wouldn't have the power of beyond a decent laptop.
If you turn off all the functions battery life will of course increase lol.

...and figure out some way to make use that big, gorgeous ZL battery. If you want lot's of capacity, there's no better way to get it than that.

There's an argument for carrying a smart"phone" as what it is - a pocket computer of limited telephonic utility and a separate real phone for - you know - making and taking phone calls all over the place. That has occurred to me and is still under active consideration. In the meantime, I'd jump at one of these things that was actually a halfway decent phone. I haven't seen a convincing explanation as to why the manufacturers haven't bothered. By all accounts iPhones are also pretty shoddy as phones.

You are correct. I have the ZeroLemon 10,000 mAh battery and I can go 5 days without a charge. Some people will always see the negative in everything and some people will look for the positive. I usually tend to venture toward the negative myself :o

Smartphones are wonderful, but stock batteries are horrible and phone reception in rural areas is usually crap...to say the least. Most of these smartphones are centered more around mobile computers than actual telephones. The Nexus was really bad...my Note 3 has better reception than the Nexus, but that really doesn't say much. My Motorola Droid and Droid X would run circles around both in reception.
