Go SMS...Why did the developer screw up a good app?

I loved GO SMS for texts. Many options to customize it. The last update made it worse than a stock app for options. Why did the developer make it worse? Any suggestions for good alternatives for SMS? Thanks
 
That trend started a long time ago - I gave up on Go a couple of years ago because every update was making it worse ;)

Personally I use Textra, which is very simple and fast. If you want more customisation then as El Pres says there's Evolve, or I've also used Chomp (same dev as Textra but more customisations).
 
I agree with go sms I was loving it. Then the update went in and it screwed it up completely. I am looking for a similar handler now.

I had the same problem, once i found Nova Launcher i ditched GO Launcher altogether. Holo Launcher is very similar to Nova, and works on older devices.

I just got rid of Go SMS because of this last update. I am now using Evolve as well and it's nice.

I can't even remember what drove me away from GO SMS but personally I've embraced Hangouts for texting and messaging.
 
Go SMS v6.0 is pants

Luckily I had a back up and was therefore able to downgrade. Uninstalled v6.0 and sideloaded the older version.

It could turn out to be quite ironic that it's called "Go" if lots of users turn their back on it :-)
 
Was this update within the last 3 days. I suddenly noticed my theme looks a little different - more spread out, but not much else. Can you be more specific in what you are having trouble with?

Just a couple minor things for me: when you type your message, the words go out of the box after the first line and the emoji icon is off center. I don't like how its spread out either. So, I installed version 5.61.
 
Ditto the others who hated it and downgraded to 5.61. The new update really screwed up a great app - took away a ton of customization options, apparently got rid of GoChat (and I USED that), the formatting in texts is all wonky, etc. Make sure you rate it on the store and tell them they screwed it up - maybe they'll go back to how it was with 5.61.
 
For some reason I started using the aosp messenger maybe 6months ago and haven't went back (Dark theme).... Not sure if I'm just texting less or got sick of bloaty customisations or just got plain lazy after flashing a new rom but there we are lol :)
 
Just on the off chance someone knows... did they get rid of GoChat? It doesn't seem to work anymore. It charged me for texting a friend overseas that was using GoSMS (and, we thought, GoChat).
 
Two posts above yours another member says it's gone, so you are not unique.

However, the Play Store description says it's still there.
 
This upgrade is a downgrade. I can't schedule a re acuring sms when I figured out how to create a scheduled sms it wouldn't let me go back in and update the contact list. I have emailed them 3 times and all I've gotten back is my same email, but no direct response. If anyone has an app I can use on my glaxaxy s 4 that will allow the same features as the go sms once did PLEASE let me know I'm sooooooooo disappointed with the upgrade as they call it... T Calvin
 
Slightly off topic, but why does 5.61 repeatedly ask me to sign-in with an email address? I don't even know why I need to sign in at all!

On topic, yes 6.0 sucks! I tried it for all of 10 minutes. Luckily TB had 5.61 backed up for me! :D
