Screen timeout settings

is there a way to set screen timeouts to specific apps? For instance, when running navigation, can the screen time out be set to never timeout just for that app? I only want the screen to stay lite for certain apps.

Im pretty sure that if your running NAV then your screen wont timeout. I think its written into some apps code.

I use Keep Screen ... it will keep the screen awake on the apps you want it to. KeepScreen (now free) v1.7 Application for Android | Tools

Weird, mine doesnt time out?? Are you using the google nav with 2.1?

another good app is Screebl, you can set your preferences for how the screen acts according to the orientation of the phone (i.e. holding it, laying flat, on the charger)

I use Screen On. Very similar to Keep Screen. Just another option.

I just have the settings on 'never time out'. When I'm done with my phone, I hit the end button. There's no need for it to time out just because I'm not touching it...especially if I'm reading or something.

That just makes too much sense! It will never work!

Actually you did make me think of how I use my phone. I also turn the screen off religously when I'm done doing what I'm what I'm doing.

So... I'm gonna remove Screen On, set it to "Never turn off" and see how it works for me. Should be OK.

Edit: It's also one less service running.
