OK. So I rooted my motion after having it for a few months, didn't have any problems for a while. But now it seems to have an incredible lag when I use it for a while. If I restart it it seems fine for about an hour then it starts to lag up again. So much so that it affects the home screen. I have next launcher on it and that does cause it to show a bit but it is barely noticeable. Any ideas? I have had to have metro refresh my phone a few times. Could this be it?

Rooting in it's self won't cause any issues or problems with the device running slow or lagging as this only gives you administrative access to area's of the device that you would normally no have access to.
Are you running stock ROM, rooted with a custom recovery?
I would contribute the cause to a rouge app or some left over modifications if any were made, and or any Xposed framework and or modules installed.
You could try wiping the dalvik cache and cache in recovery and see if that helps.
Try booting into safe mode and see if the lag still continues, if not then you need to narrow it down to the app/or apps that are causing your problem.
As a last resort you could always perform a factory reset and start over fresh... Just make sure that you have backed up the things that a are important to you first before the factory reset... Pics, files, documents and music.
If the above doesn't solve your issue then there maybe an underlying issue causing the problem and typically a factory reset will resolve most of your issues and get you back on track.
When I was using my motion it actually ran really very well and I never experienced and lag or problems and I've ran almost every custom ROM available for it and all the stock kdz versions without any issues as well.

You might even want to try a different launcher is cause that may be causing your issue as well.

Hope this helps and good luck!

It was the launcher... Damn and that one was nice. :-(

Yeah unfortunately some launcher's use an excessive amount of memory/ram and can cause heavy lag, poor, performance unexpected behavior.

What launcher are you/or were you using?

There are some good launchers out there... And I can make some suggestion for a few but the launcher's are more of an app of personal choice... I do like Google Now, (matched with Xposed GEL Settings) launcher3, Nova and Apex launcher's and etc...
