Help Nexus 6 will work on all major US carriers

Please excuse my dumbness, but if I buy the Nexus 6 from Motorola, is it compatible with Verizon? Are there different versions for V vs ATT, vs S or T?

I just scored on from Motorola's site, and would like to have the flexibility to pick between Verizon or AT&T.

There is one US SKU. It technically will work on Verizon. Whether they will allow it (now that there are rumors of delays to as late as January) remains to be seen.

Bottom line, no one knows wth is going on with Verizon and we probably won't know for a while. It may work from day 1, it may not. It may work and then later stop working if VZW decides to blacklist it. We just don't know. And it's complete BS they can't be transparent with this.

Thanks for the update. I do have a sim in my GS4. I'm guessing this will work. I also have one in an older Droid rzr Max.

Those phones take a micro sim IIRC. Nexus 6 takes a nano sim. So you'll either need a new sim, or cut your sim down to nano size. Unfortunately cutting it manually can end up ruining the sim if you're not careful.

Since the Nexu6 is 'universal' does that mean when a custom rom is released that it will work on all of them, meaning no need to build the rom then build a Vzw version, then build a ATT version, and so on...?

Good question, I'm not sure how that'll work. I hope it goes more smoothly than how CM11 has done it with their "unified" builds, because that took months to sort out :/

From what I've read about this guy it seems he might have a prototype NexSix so he may be wrong? He's posted a few pics of the phone and a couple taken with the phone. He also writes for a website I never heard of.

Wonder I'd this explains it not working on Sprint? http://www.reddit.com/r/nexus6/comments/2lmg9y/getting_a_sprint_nano_sim_for_the_nexus_6_run/clwak2x perhaps he didn't have the right sim card?

My hell comment was more to the point that in addition to the gsm carriers it worked with vzw, too. It just boggles my mind that we might have the first "universal" US phone in the form of a Nexus...

ATT will be starting preorders tomorrow, Sprint will start selling on the 14th in stores and online.

No word yet on Verizon, as expected.

I don't expect one anytime soon. They didn't announce the Droid Turbo until the week of, right? And that's one their pushing really hard. I expect a quiet release in mid-December, unless they decide to wait until after Christmas to get everyone onto a Droid Turbo or iPhone first.

Hopefully my play store one is activated w/a micro to nano sim swap without too much hassle when I receive the phone...

This is how it currently works on the nexus 5, including international phones.

One ROM works for all nexus 5 devices. I would expect the same for the 6

I spoke with AT&T. Having pre-ordered many phones over the last few years I know their system well. I only bring that up because after speaking with two different reps, they sound uncertain about this particular phone.

Usually they can readily give me a window of time estimated for shipping. They could not do that today. So I called the Corporate Store Mgr I've been doing a high volume of business with and he was equally uncertain.

I was also able to identify this as an issue with the supplier, not AT&T. Therefore I'm going forward with no expectations, just an open mind.
