Ringtone doesn't stop?

Hey guys, just wondering if there is anyway to set my phone in such a way that my ring tone will turn off when I open the phone (either unlock/ do anything to the phone). As it is right now my ring tone (a full mp3 song imported from my pc) will play until I drag down my notification bar. I'm using tone picker and handcent sms if it makes any difference.

Also, is there a way to edit the the keyboard input sound when typing with the stock keyboard?

for the Droid Eris Phone please got to menu>settings>sound and display>put a check in quiet ring on pick up.;)

Don't do that. That creates more problems than it fixes. Just hit the volume button up or down. You can also hit the end call button if the screen is still locked and it will quiet the ringtone and give you options on answering or ignoring the call.

Seems like I don't have this option in my sound and display? I'm still running 1.5, haven't got the OTA update yet. Also to clarify, calls are fine because when I pick up the ring tone stops. Its the incoming texts/notifications that are bothering me. If pressing the volume button is all I can do to silence it that's what I'll have to do, but I would like to find out how to silence it by unlocking the screen or something, if its possible.

I just hate reading the hancent popup while the ringtone is still going off.

We're in the same boat. I am still trying to figure out how to stop the ringtone when answering a text. If you figure it out or anyone knows let me know lol
