Hello,
I have found my old Huawei Ideos x3 (U8510), with Android 2.3.4. It was normally working before two years. I wanted to test of my application (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cz.petr.nastaveni) but unfortunately the google play isn't working, I can sign. It told me, there is an error with synchronization, which I have resolved by turning synchronization on and off several times. All the time in about two or three minutes intervals, the Google Talk tells me, it can't sign in. I am able to read Gmail messages, Youtube works too, my contacts have synchronized.
What have I tried:
  • Reboot the device
  • Delete cache of Google Play, Google Services Framework (I have also read, it causes the error but I don't know)...
  • Reset to factory default
Nothing was working.

If you can get Play Store to open, tap on menu and scroll down to settings. In settings, scroll to bottom to build version and tap it. It should tell you if your version is up to date or ask to download new version.
It's version 5.8.8 and tells me, it is up to date (I'm not sure if it really is up to date, because on newer phone I have version 6.3.16 but it can be other version on another android version - 2.3.4 against 4.1.1)

I'm out of ideas.....

Try what you did already....Clear cache and data in Google Play and Play services. Force stop. Reboot.

I"ve tried to resuscitate old android phones before and just had to keep trying.

Does anything else work? Can you even get to the app drawer
I think everything else works fine. Only Google Play and Talk doesn't. I don't think it's caused by Google account, because YouTube works fine. And what I haven't said, It was doing with Android Market and older Google Play too.

Ok, so the card has already expired. I have deleted it from my account, but I have still the same error.

Ok, clear data and cache and force stop google play and google play services.

Reboot phone and try to log back into Google Play.

If that does not work, you may want to try sideloading an updated Google Play apk.

I'm out of ideas now. Good luck

Most apps that's running today will not work on that 2.3.4 ROM . My old Huewei M860 has a 2.3.5 and I had to sign in to Google with an primary account so Google could update that phone. It's probably nothing's wrong with the phone it's just Google hadn't sent the code to update it yet. After Google Play Store is updated it will start working for you. But make sure you sign in with your primary Google account first. Even after you get it up and running you still may have a storage issue because if I'm not mistaken that phone only had a 187 MB of Phone memory. That's why those phones are obsolete today because they didn't have enough memory to handle today's games and apps sizes.

I don' have Google Play services installed. Can It be one of things, which can cause that error?
Do a factory reset first and then you will be prompt to sign in. Use your primary Google account and sign into that device your phone will begin to update to today's updates from Google Play Store and Google service which will both be installed to that phone.
