I guess I'm a much heavier user. I unplugged at 9am, used the phone consistently (but not super heavy) throughout the day and needed to recharge at 10pm. So, about 13 hours. Not bad.

I probably have my screen brighter than some users, which is a drain. I'm going to keep looking for the settings that work best for me. I still don't think the battery lasts as long as my original ZMAX did when it was new, but 13 hours is certainly very good! If I had used the phone a lot more throughout the day (with current settings) I probably would've got about 6-7 hours before needing a charge.

If your original zmax got a little bit better battery life that is because of two things. The lower quality display in the first zmax didn't draw as much power and 4.4.x KitKat doesn't use as much power as 6.0.x marshmallow does. Marshmallow does have a lot of optimizations for improving battery life but this just makes it better than lollipop was. It still isn't as battery efficient as KitKat was. I can remember going all day without needing to charge my old zmax but that was on KitKat. On lollipop my old zmax didn't get any better battery life than what I'm getting on the zmax pro. Despite being a heavy user I still get very good battery life and usually only need to charge my phone once a day. Two things I do that help improve battery life are keeping the screen brightness down to 50% or lower whenever possible, and keeping haptic feedback turned off. I like having haptic feedback turned on but it kills the battery. If haptic feedback is something you can live without in order to get a little better battery life then get haptic switch from the play store. It's a very small app that toggles haptic feedback on devices that don't have the option in settings. You just tap the launcher icon to turn haptic feedback on or off.

After only 3 hours of up time on it I can see the battery will be more needy already. As you say why, I agree. Having the original zmax there's a noticeable diff. Btw. My old zmax never gave me one moment of trouble. I shut it down yesterday after 18 months of constant use. Great phone. I'm just a youtube , netflix web surfer. Not a gamer except very little angry birds in a waiting room from time to yime.
New z max pro is a very nicely put together handset. Very nice indeed. Expensive looking. Great hand feel. Getting a 3 piece hard drop safe belt holster ed case tomorrow from amazon. 9 bucks. My old zmax looks mint from using this case.
One thing it did do was get very hot but then stopped and has not since. It was right out of the box. t it got so hot I could not put against my ear. This came after a 50% charges where I stopped at 75% full , made 2 calls, played a bit and noticed the extreme heat. I booted it , shut it fown, had lunch and went back to it after an hour. Since then, normal use has displayed zero heat. Not even a bit warm. Very nuetral. ..??? Almost called zte but didnt. I never charge fully. Many short charges between 40 and 80% only. Never let it get lower or higher. That's on all my stuff. Tablets to. It burned my ear man! No more though. .?? Go figure. It happens again I call zte from my local metro store.
I'm also trying to get some acknowledgement of this leather case I prefer registered for but metro, stores or corporate told me nothing. No email either. Purchased phone Aug3. Yesterday. Pre- registered the 25th.
Well enjoy them. I will mine.

I'm getting a satisfactory amount of screen on time. About 4.5 hrs sot with 46percent battery remaining.

I'm imagine I can it 6 or more easily.

I noticed it comes off of 100 fast but drains juice more slowly between 40 and 70 percent
