Hmm very fascinating... I wonder if there is some kind of tool to measure how much mass is on one side compared to the other to check for an imbalance?
Hmmm very interesting... in my line of work we need to calibrate everything - all equipment rigorously as even the slightest defect can be devastating and catastrophic... and get 1000's if not millions (if it is nuclear) of people killed...
In my line of work you have to be extremely careful because the slightest error can get everyone killed... even for miles and miles... I wonder how it would be measured to check for balance on a blade though?
I find that very interesting
I looooove this kind of topic...
@olbriar my friend how does that work to test for whether or not the blade is evenly balanced?
I am quite confident that on an aircraft that with an airplane fan blade(s) it would be
dire and have one of the most highest priority (if not the highest) to have the blade
very thoroughly inspected all over (including an evenly balanced blade) to ensure there are 0 errors or defects because it would be catastrophic if it was unbalanced... even though it is highly unlikely that an aircraft blade / propeller would require sharping from time to time (maybe it does?) it would be extremely serious if it was not evenly balance....
Hmmmmm.... very very very interesting ...... I already know for certain applications on aircraft you need X-RAYS to check for certain structural fabrication defects within welding and other fabrication processes to ensure it either meets or surpasses industry standards... I think it depends on the type of aircraft too - I am talking about the "more" serious aircraft though... it costs a fortune to do the radio-graphic testing... but totally necessary other wise it would be dangerous to fly it...also sometimes I have heard of Ultrasound being used to check for all sorts of fabrication defects however never used ultrasound myself...
For example in space craft they go into extreme and insane maddening details to ensure it is almost bullet proof to go into space... I am quite confident all sorts of testing is done to ensure she is all good to go... way more so than a "simple" blade...
I really want to know - how does one test for an imbalance in the blade??
You got me hooked now
I loooove this kind of topic sorry just sayin
Found this because you have me wondering now:

Ahh very cool!
