Help Battery Status Is Lying

I've been having a pretty rough time with my battery lately. My status bar says it's draining extremely fast, about 1% lost in under 5 secs. But when I turn off my system and plug it in, the charging animation say I have WAY more battery power than what I was told prior to shutdown. I turn it off at around 15%, but shutdown and plug in says low 80s. And if I have it plugged in while it's on, the battery percentage still goes down. Does anyone know why this is happening?

After posting this, I did a little experimentation. When I first noticed this, I was running Minecraft Pocket Edition, and had a ton of constant piston movement. Turns out it only did this on one specific map. But that still doesn't explain why it happened in the first place.
Come November, I'll have had it for 2 years. It's a DigiLand DL1010Q, which at this point is a discontinued model. The battery cannot be removed, and because of the actual cause of the issue, the charger doesn't make a difference.
