Note 7 Discount!

I sent this article to Samsung, asking them to confirm the validity of the story. If anyone should get a discount on the Note 8, it should be those who complied with the recall and turned in their Note 7s. Those of us who complied with BOTH recalls should get an even larger discount.
The stubborn holdouts who defied the recalls should get absolutely NOTHING. They have had every opportunity to turn in their phones, and refused to do so. Any discount for them gives consumers an incentive to defy future recalls.

Nice! I was able to get that promo too. Question....anyone know how their trade in works? They'll provide us the package & ticket or we get the packaging and request a ticket?

As soon as you get the Note 8, you use Smart Switch (or whatever) to move everything to the new phone. Remove all accounts from the old phone, remove any security features, and factory reset it. Put it in the shipping box the Note 8 came in (a shipping label should be included). As long as they get the old phone in a certain amount of time (I think it's 30 days) and it's in good, serviceable condition, you're done! If someone sends in a broken phone, they'll get hit with the difference. So make sure you don't try anything sneaky!

Here's what it said when I placed my order:

If you do not send in your Trade-In Device within 15 days of receiving your new device or if your Trade-In Device is not in good condition or is not otherwise eligible for Trade-In, you agree to pay Samsung the full trade-in value listed above or full trade-in value listed minus $25, respectively. You authorize such charge to be made on the same payment method, and same Samsung Financing offer if applicable, used for this transaction. No device will be returned to you.

Ive been inactive for a while here and I guess I had to re-confirm my account. Ive been wanting to post since yesterday- Best Buy has a great promotion going on. Even better than Samsungs for Note 7 owners.
With Samsung, as you know, you can get the 425 dollar credit.
I have found that Best Buy is paying 336 for my V20, and an additional 150 promotional offer. A total of 486 off the price of the V20.

I think thats the route I may go. On the monthly payment program, my phone would only cost 18.75 a month.

If any of you downgraded to a S7, youll fare even better. You get 480 dollars for that device, plus the additional 150 dollars on promotion. It shows your phone costing 12.75 a month, or only 306 dollars if you buy outright.
I dont think anyone is beating that deal, and I wish I could have brought this to all of your attention sooner!

So, I was going through all the steps of the Best Buy pre-order process, and I didnt like the setup. Seemed like I was about to order the phone without ever being able to find the option to include a trade in. So it was not accounting for the promos. I said screw it and went with the Samsung deal.
Question; as I have never used Samsung financing for anything. I am doing the monthly payment for the phone. Do they send a bill? I couldnt find any info on this anywhere as far as how I know when payment is due, and how I will be billed. If anyone has experience with this, please let me know!

I am SO pumped to be getting rid of the LG and back to the Samsung family!

too much like doing taxes with all the redtape and no linear directions dealing with samsung and requires to credit ratings.
The trade in process was frustrating. Best Buy had a better deal but I couldnt figure out how to get trade in credit on their website. It seemed like I was one click away from completing my order without ever being able to put in any trade in info.

Samsung was easy, but at the end you have to get credit checked to be eligible for their financing. I went with it because I was out of options. But even that was unclear- I am still not sure if I am going to get a paper bill, or if there is somewhere online I need to go find my bill. No idea on due date....Im a little nervous Im going to miss the bill. Hopefully one comes in the mail.

Well, financing will always require a credit check. That's what puzzled me at first, because I bought the Note 8 outright and there was nothing about a credit check. I'll just be happy to trade in this Note 5!
Yeah... I know it said Samsung Financing, but I guess I just assumed it would work the same as I had been paying monthly to Verizon. Shocker! It meant what it said!

I had to pay 420 to get rid of my LG, so the cost of buying this phone outright on top of that?... Suffice it to say, I chose my marriage over that option.
