Have you seen it? The tech blogosphere is all agog about it!

Weren't they all agog about the exact same thing for the Galaxy S8, Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note9? Is this some kind of bizarre race to report non-news, or a social experiment to see how many phone cycles they can regurgitate the same story, just changing the model number, before the public catches on and stops clicking on the stupid headline?

I've not bothered clicking on the links ;)

But I assumed that the story here was that it was contradicting the rumours that the Note 9 would have this. As you say, we've had a couple of years now where every new Samsung flagship is rumoured to have an under-screen FP sensor. Eventually one of them will be right, at which point someone will claim a success (assuming we've forgotten all of the incorrect predictions that preceded this...).

Apparently now the Note9 is going to be another minor update, as Samsung stockpiles features to pack into their anniversary device, next year's Galaxy S10.

That's a horrible risk of market share, Samsung. Not to mention that a whole lot of shareholders will want heads to roll over the decision to 'take a year off' from making innovative smartphones...

But I've read that the Vivo implementation is slow - fine if you just want sales through a "cool factor", but perhaps not if you are making performance a selling point.

So I wonder if Samsung is having the same problem, and possibly why it's not coming this year in a Galaxy phone. A cool factor, but not nice if it's slow.
