Best cleaner for android

I am wondering what you guys use to clean your android phone? I have the free version of SDMaid and CCleaner, but CCleaner is very bloated now, but it cleans more than the Pro version of SDMaid... so are there any other cleaners you prefer?

I know most of you will say none, but I'm very OCD with my files directories like empty folders, cache, hidden cache, and other useless folders/files taking up space.

I created a lengthy video on what I have installed and certain maintenance tasks I do on a regular basis.
If you don't mind, please watch it and give me your honest opinions on what I'm doing right and wrong.

My favorite 'cleaner' = NOTHING.

They're completely unnecessary, cannot do anything you can't do yourself using Android's built-in features and, at worst, can cause problems.

As a Linux user--and Android is a Linux--I've never needed any silly cleaners. 35 years on *nix, 10+ years on Android, ZERO silly 'cleaners.'

Cleaning up orphaned directories left by uninstalled apps I can see the point of, and SD Maid will do that (of course you can do it yourself). Cache cleaning is a bit of a waste of time as caches just refill: it's something you might do temporarily if you are out of storage and not ready to replace the phone just yet, but it's a short-term measure only and hence not something I look for.

Any form of RAM cleaning or task killing (which is all RAM cleaning is) should be avoided, and I would not install an app with that feature. That type of crap is based on a lack of understanding of how RAM management in Linux works.

I have a copy of SD Maid, though I can't remember when I last ran it (probably on my previous phone, more than 3 years ago). I wouldn't touch most "cleaner" apps.

All of the above responses are correct.

The thing is, sonewhere around 80% of active devices worldwide are considered low end devices.

By this, I mean that people that can afford high end devices with loads of extra memory and storage do not need to worry about cleaning their devices.

The rest of us are stuck with devices that fill up (and then slow down) with tons of useless junk repeatedly.

Then there is the never ending plague of 'cleaners', 'boosters', 'coolers', "memory expanders', etc. that play upon unfounded fears and steal our info. (Don't even get me started on anti-virus, anti-malware, 'security', etc. apps.)

It is no help at all that the 'only' trusted source for Android apps is the single largest purveyor of these junk, scam apps- and refuses to eliminate them- in fact promotes them constantly.

But, there are two that I can and do recommend.

But be aware that the later versions of Android are allowing any cleaning type app to do less and less.

So it seems that Android is set upon becoming a repository for piles and piles of unwanted junk and useless (to us, anyway) information about you and what you do with your device.

Anyway, rant over, here are my recommendations for cleaner apps.

Please read the app description in the first one, as it is VERY informative as to exactly what any of these type apps capabilities really are.

And the second one has multiple other features (not all of them) that I have found useful.

If your device is Android 8 or earlier, I recommend version 5.0.3.9 for an ad-free experience.

If you have a device that is Android 9 or above, you may need the newer version for it to perform.

Always double check anything that a cleaner wants to delete.

I see that you have tried CCleaner.
That one used to include the Downloads folder for cleaning by default.
How infuriating!

And you are correct, it has become quite bloated.
I was a fan years ago, before it became full of ads and other junk.

Anyway, the two that I use are mentioned above, let me know if you have any issues with them, or if they work for you.

What they said. And don't "clean" RAM, it just slows down your phone.
