trash folder is a mess!

I was traveling and taking a lot of pictures.
I was sending those pictures to some Cloud Storage and then renaming Camera folder to something like "camera DDMM".
After sometime I deleted some of those old "camera" folders.
Android sent then to "trash folder".
I used "file manager" to clear the "trash folder".
But not so much free space was recovered...
Beacuse there was a lot of lost files and folders at "trash folder" that FileManager did not clear!

Then I used another file manager (with a lot of annoying advertising) and deleted all "trash$" folders.
And now my Samsung A107m has more than 40% of free space!

This Android 11 is just a mess.
I think it is worst system of all.

Actually my Android 11 phone doesn't have a system "trash folder". So I suspect that this thing is a feature of the file manager on your phone, i.e. a piece of Samsung code rather than part of the Android 11 operating system.

Of course if it's the only A11 device you've used, or you've only used Samsung devices, it will be hard for you to know what is Android and what is Samsung. But where something isn't actually an operating system feature but an add-on it is useful to know, because if you know where the problem lies you know what to do to fix it (e.g. find a decent file manager and don't bother with the built-in one or a piece of adware).

i don't know my z fold 3 with android 11 is not a mess......but then again i have the 512g storage phone so i have no worries about running out of room. plus i use google photos which save all of my photo's to the cloud. i never have to use a file manager to manage my pictures.

i would not blame android 11. i would blame what manufacturer of your phone.

FYI Samsung's trash folder is actually called Recycle Bin(same as in Windows), and I presume that's what you're referring to. This is a Samsung only feature, and isn't usually in Android 11. As for your file manager, are you using Samsung's own stock My Files app, or a third-party one?
