Is cm launcher harmful?

I've been given many different viewpoints regarding cm launchers safety on androids. Can anyone give me some reliable information as to whether or not cm launcher harms your phone? I know they were pulled from play store. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure a launcher app couldn't do actual physical harm to a phone. But Cheetah Mobile apps could seriously harm your privacy and/or your sanity...

...also there's plenty of threads on AF about CM not been good.

I don't know if CM launcher is safe, but I see it's provided by Cheetah Mobile which has been linked to click fraud. They used to show users a fake warning that their device is infected with a virus so you'd install some other Cheetah Mobile app to solve the issue.

I'm not sure if they still use deceptive tactics or not, but I wouldn't use one of their apps. There's plenty of great launchers to choose from.

Googling "is cheetah mobile safe" comes up with plenty of articles on this topic.

Cheetah Mobile are still around(in 2022), but they seem to have diversified into robots, information kiosk systems, and other AI for the domestic China market. Although the CM site still lists their infamous trojan spyware/adware nasties, like Clean Master.

BTW is anyone actually still using AnTuTu benchmark? Because that's Cheetah Mobile.

Here's a Cheetah Mobile robot kiosk I spotted yesterday. The head rotates so it can look at and face anyone who walks by, and it speaks, inviting possible customers to dine at the advertised Sichuan restaurant. And it can take food orders in advance as well.
