Finally...

Enjoy it, mate!

I am loving mine and I haven't done anything excessive with it yet. I am reluctant to customise it too much as I may be getting mine replaced/exchanged as it came with a small speck of dust under the screen. It's only a minor issue, but it's rather annoying, even if it can only be seen in direct sunlight when the phone is off or the phone is in sleep mode.

My advice is test it to within in inch of it's life :) during the grace period so if you have any issues you're not stuck with it.

I have a major issue sending / receiving texts on Orange along with calls sending straight to voicemail - unfortunately I'm just outside of the 14 days Orange give.

Ah cool, I can give it a thorough test tonight whilst I'm out.

I was thinking anyway, wasn't the battery memory issue with the older Ni-mH batteries? Phones will use Lithium-Ion batteries these days which aren't affected by this.

The charge/discharge cycle is CPU controlled, so you don't need to "condition" the battery like you did with the old batteries, but there's lots of software now that syncs with your battery level, and to give an accurate reading they sometimes need you to fully charge and discharge the battery at least once, to determine the tolerances.

The leaflet with mine said a full charge should take 3 hours, I've not measured it from dead, but my first full charge on receiving the phone only took just over an hour.

Haha, I was like that with my old BlackBerry 8900, got it replaced about 6 times for little things like that until eventually settling for the 9000 model instead.

As soon as you notice that single bit of dust or dead pixel its all you see when looking at the screen, they do my head in.

I hope to god my desire is fine. Its been getting thrown about by the worst courier company ever (DPD UK, avoid them at all cost) for the last 3 days.

I'm onto my 5th Desire, faults (some minor I admit) were: Call quality poor, hardware buttons started sticking, screen off-centre and now this sms failure / calls straight to vm issue with the last two handsets.

It's my first touch-screen/smartphone and as soon as I can sort this sms problem I'll love it lol.
