ok so i just downloaded the speedtest app and i am curious if my speeds are average or sub par. my results are as follows:

down: .21mbps

up: .49mbps

ping: 189ms

i ran my taskiller to kill other apps thinking it would speed my rates up but no real improvements. the funny thing is if i tether my phone via easytether and run the speedtest on my laptop my rates jump to over 1 full mbps. not sure why though

What app are you using? Speedtest.net? I get 1.6mbps down .8mbps up and 202ms ping here where I live. At my parents house in LA it's generally more like 2+mpbs down 1+mbps up.

Those numbers are pretty low and it's weird that if you test with your laptop through tethering that your speeds are higher. Do you notice your web browsing on the phone being extremely slow?

I have 1.9 down and .9 up here in houston. I do know though I have heard that people with official tethering get more priority with speeds. Where are you located. Also have you done a *228 update recently? Also go to settings and see if you are on on Rev a or Rev o.
I am located innorth ms. I got my friend to download speedtest on his iphone and he got similar results. Perhaps it is just my location? Still funny that its faster while tethered though

I'm sorry but I'm not sure how to do this please enlighten me. Check my app settings to see my server that is

The tab that says settings. You click it, then 'select server'. Choose the closest to where you're at.

Once you got your results, you can look at them in the results tab, and even email yourself a little graphic like this:

Obviously, as you can see, this app is pretty bad at distances, since I'm in Lexington, not ~300 miles away.
