Does someone know how to use voice search to launch specific music?

Droid'ers,

I'm wondering if anyone has been able to make Voice Search on the Droid launch the music player and play specific music. I went into "Settings", "Search", "Searchable items" under "Quick Search Box", and selected "Music...Artists, albums, and tracks"...so I think voice search can search the local device for music. Try as I may, I can't make search for music on the device.

Admittedly, I'm used to the MS WinMo/Sync system where I can say something like "Play Artist Korn" (like in the commercial). I'm just wondering if I'm missing the "magic keywords" to make the voice search do what I want...or am I just whistling dixie...

This would come in VERY handy when the Droid is in the Car Dock (I HIGHLY recommend one of these btw...I just wish they'd integrated a power adapter with it...). That way, I can launch music via voice, and not plunk around with a very small icon on the screen.

Thanks in advance for any help...

I'm trying to do the same thing. Same goes for launching apps by voice, using the search box. Any news? (I have a Nexus One, hence the voice part, but it shouldn't make a difference. It's the same text field.)

Edit: I figured this out. I think it's Nexus One specific though, and it's a little confusing. I'll post the info here anyway. Basically, doing as the OP said, the music appears at the bottom of the quick search results if you say just the name of the artist. The Nexus One's mic button next to the Quick Search box is not simply equivalent to typing in the Quick Search box, odd as it may seem. The mic button blacks out the screen and opens a voice-recognition window. It will only display web search results from what you say in that mode. The exception is if you say "Navigate to", "Directions to", "Map of" or "Call...".

This does not affect voice search, only the search widget etc. If you search sometimes apps or music will start to show up as autocomplete options, and there should be a more at the bottom of the list.

I too miss activesync from wm. Very handy in the car (or not so much handy, but helpful:p)

There is a nice app called choice dialer and choice dialer dj which work great for this as a combo. Allows you to do alot more things with your voice, even say "play artist or song or album" Set events by voice etc, its still free i believe.
