Phantom Skinz; did I just mess up my phone?

Hi everyone, I just applied the phantom skinz to my phone and stupidly I applied it to my phone and it was all good but left a smudge so while battery and phone on, I reapplied the screen protector without realizing the phone was still on... now it seems like there was too much water and the screen is distorted. I am so stupid. Anyone know if I really messed up my phone or is it possible that its just water that needs to evaporate or do I need to go to radio shack and get a replace (if possible)? Man please help me out please!

Note do not use so much water!

sorry the first time you saw some lines of water, then the second time, you see the screen dark and flickering. I rather not turn it on right now, I'm placing it in a bag of rice.

just happened to me with my ghost armor, i was fuming pissed. but i followed the directions exactly, three squirts on the adhesive side a foot away, placed it on, centered it, squeegeed it out, let it sit with battery still out for 7 hours while i slept, i wake up put it together and turn it on and BAMN big ass moisture stains under the SCREEN, i ripped off the screen protector cause i had to make sure it was the phone and sure enough it was... but after 2 days of sitting in a bed of white rice (uncooked of course) my phone is healthy again... it looks like nothing was ever there...

just let it dry and sit

Covert_death I pray you are right though applying the phantom skinz seems to have a lot more water than the ghost armor...

screen is distorted? Would need to see a photo to diagnose it.

when you first apply a phantom skinz it will have a "hazy" nature or exaggerate some of the pixels (due to the magnification of the water). it will dry out and the screen will be perfect. air bubbles on the other hand do not go away.

So weird. Am I the only one that had absolutely no problem with my Ghost Armor?

Here are the steps I took:
1) Took out battery and put back cover back on
2) Followed Ghost Armor instructions (almost to the T) by spraying the sticky side 3 times and the front side one time.
3) gently layed the shield on the screen, making sure everything aligned correctly and the shield did not cover front camera lens or led indicator. Had to spray one more time and re-apply, just to get the screen as close to perfectly aligned as possible.
4) Took squeegie and got as much of the water out to the sides and push as many of the airbubbles out as possible (from the center to the outside of the phone). I also made sure that any excess water underneath the shield was not pushed into the earpiece area. (Only thing I DIDN'T do correctly here was to make sure that the squeegie stayed wet, as it says in the instructions).
5) Once I had everything straight and all the excess water and the air bubbles pushed out, I wrapped the phone in the paper that came with the Ghost Armor (the instructions don't say WHAT to wrap it in, but they do say to wrap it).
6) Put the phone, wrapped in paper, into the Ghost Armor shipment box and let it sit for 4 hours.
7) After the 4 hours were up, I took the phone out of the box, looked at it to make sure there was no moisture or air bubbles. Once I gave it a thorough look, I swyped my finger accross the screen (pushing away from the earpiece) to be doubley sure there was no moisture.
8) Put the battery back into the phone, replaced the battery cover, turned on the phone...PERFECT. At that point, I did the stupid thing and tried to put the Platinum case back on, when I really should've waited at least a day before trying to do that (so the edges came up a little and I had to push them back down.

Now, when I put the platinum case on, I had to do it very slowly and be sure to push down the corners to make sure the screen protector doesn't come up. After 2 days of having the Ghost Armor on, I love it! It's definitely smoother than invisible shield, so it feels as close to the real screen, but truly good protection as compared to other screen protectors. And I noticed that it doesn't pick up fingerprints all that much (but still needs to be wiped down every now and then). Overall, very happy experience for me.

I installed a PhantomSkinz a couple of days ago and am very happy with it. No issues with water damage at all. You can't even tell it has a screen protector on it. That and a silicone case = win.

I had to do it about 6 times since my Palm Pre would break every few weeks (grrrrr....)

You soak the PS in a sink of hot running water to get it wet and to loosen it up. I don't bother with the soap bit but other people who've done it said it made things easier.

Thanks everyone for the help. After this morning it still has moisture stains on screen as I boot up (took out battery immediately once I saw that) and still waiting to dry out. I have now added silica gel packets to it and probably will wait until tomorrow morning to see what happens. I'll let you all know until then.

Wow this is unreal, so this is what my phone looks like when booted, its been like this the past 36 hours even after rice and silica gels. What do you think guys am I screwed or what?

I applied my Phantom Skinz a few days ago. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't provide any application solution, and that the instructions called for Johnson's Baby Soap to be mixed in water (WTF?). Anyway, I didn't use the Johnson's...just straight water.

You don't give details on how exactly you applied the skin. I followed the directions (soak for 10 seconds, then remove, then soak again, then apply, squeegee, etc.). The first time I applied the skin it wasn't on straight so I had to remove it, dip it in water again, and reapply. I left the phone powered completely off and allowed the thing to "dry" overnight. The next morning I noted a small smudge in the upper right corner that might have been some moisture--not sure. I decided to just let the phone dry naturally. I believe the instructions mention that it might take a couple of days. Anyway, that did the trick for me. The skin looks awesome now and works extemely well. I'm still pissed they don't ship it with application fluid and tell people to go out and buy Johnson's Baby Soap to just apply the friggin thing.

Yeah its public now, sorry about that. But yeah this is how my phone looks. I just used dish washer/hand soap. I didn't see any instructions for johnson's baby soap. I heard its just recommended. I kept reapplying the skin and thus water got into it. I dont know if my screen is permanently damaged, or its going to take weeks to dry out because I haven't seen any improvements since two days ago....

Can anyone help me?

if it's been 36 hours, your phone has probably dried out all its going to. what you are seeing is moisture that got under the glass and onto the lcd, which will never come out unless you take the glass off and clean it off. even then it probably stained the lcd enough that it will never come off. Hopefully you bought insurance, and learned your lesson to follow the instructions.

I've got a clear skin on it. Can't even tell it's there aside from slightly more friction as your dragging across the screen. MUCH less friction than the Invisible shield though. Love the product.

Really? I installed the PS on my Pre twice since September using their instructions. I thought it read that you just soak it in a bowl of warm water and soap. I followed exactly in a "clean room" (room with air purifier lol) and it came out perfect. Guy at best buy asked if they put it on because the do-it-yourselfers that he sees come in with a mess on their phone.

I actually just received my Phantomskinz as well. I ordered a Matte finish, but the folks were nice enough to send me one of each, Matte and Clear.

Now, thanks to your post, im actually thinking of using the clear one instead.... .....
