Help How to stop the music player?

Hey all,
I'm using Motorola Milestone version 2.1, update 1.
Does anyone know how to stop the music player withour rebooting or killing the application?
Since a pressed play on a song it keeps playing, I can pause it but can't stop it!!

That's why thsese phones are so badass, they're multitask kings, linux based stuff is prolly the best. But its like if the program/application is not using any resources, then its not hogging the processer or using next to nothing for memory. Unlike a windows application, you pause or stop one of those media players, its still taking resources and using a buttload of memory. I still like to physically close and kill the media when I'm not really listening to it. But ill kill other apps first if I'm looking for memory to freeup.

It's annoying isn't it. Same issue for me.

As soon as I open the music app. whatever song was previously 'paused' starts right up where it left off
