Wow, all those pics show pretty much all I'd like to see aside from the real thing in person. They didn't like the "glitter" pattern on the back, but I do. :p Good to see sunlight pics too, since I spent a ton of freetime outdoors with my phone.

I'll probably cover mine up with one of those after market soft touch cases or something.

I'm hoping Body Glove makes a nice solid case for this, then all of that talk about the plastic feel will be irrelevant. Phones like this should really be protected anyways.
Doesn't the whole back of the phone come off to access the battery, etc? Could someone easily produce an aftermarket back to replace the stock one? (e.g. aluminum or something that matches the front bezel) The first few seconds of this video show the back coming off.

Since this phone is shipping in so many markets, it could make sense to produce this product.

Exactly my thoughts. I don't know that I will dislike the back, but if I did this would be my solution. I'd get a case anyway, but i'm sure there's some sort of aftermarket back covering with different designs that will pop up. Plus, i'm sure seidio will have some sort of extended battery with a different door for those who want that, i'm not one for adding thickness to my phones though.

Of course none of this will matter if Verizon doesn't get the phone :/ Wonder if I could convince Verizon to activate a Sprint one if that happened lol

what is the point in having all those ridiculous cases? People only drop their phones when they take them out of pockets or similar situations, right? I have never dropped a phone while i'm using it. so a POUCH would be a better solution. This phone is already huge as it is, with a case it would be gargantuum.

If you are as clumsy as I am, you'd drop you phone quite frequently while using it!

It's all personal taste.
I prefer my phones to have as much protection as possible.

My thoughts entirely.... I have very sad and 'twitchy' memories of the time I left my phone on the dashboard of my 4x4 and from a standstill took a hard right turn.
Unfortunately I had just dropped off my wife and with the passenger window still open the phone left the dash and sped rapidly out of the window and on to the road.
I remember the look on my wife's face when she came up to me with my phone she had picked up in her hands......... minus the screen which had shattered...

Sure seems like it would be easy to make/install an aftermarket replacement for the back. Shame though that when he stops tearing it a part there's still stuff stuck to the front plate, and the bezel doesn't seem detachable. I was hoping I could replace that bezel to avoid "embarrassing" questions of "hey cool iPhone app", "how did you get your iPhone to do that"?. ;)
