Get a Nexus One or wait?

I was looking into going back to a Nexus One from my iPhone. But now I am on the fence about waiting for the next Google Experience phone or just get the N1?

Thoughts? Suggestions?

The next 3 months will have another monster phone (EVO style) come out.

It's better to wait for the next big thing since the N1 has already been out for 5 months...

Don't get me wrong its an amazing phone that is great for me and fulfills all of my needs, but I would wait just a tiny bit longer.

The Nexus One is here to stay! At least for another year. You should try to sell your iphone now, before it goes down in value since iPhone 4 is coming out.

It really depends on what carrier your service is on. If T-Mobile, then definitely the Nexus One!!! If At&T...I would say it's a toss-up. Also, what is most important to you on a phone?

I ditched my iPhone 3GS mainly because I'm on T-Mobile.
-I cannot get 3G service with my iphone.
-I can tether my Nexus One with my laptop which is a HUGE PLUS!!
-I like the direction that Android is heading towards.

But again, what matters to me might not matter to you. I felt that the positives outweighed the negatives, so I went ahead and switched to a N1. So far, it's the best decision I've ever made.

My big questions to you is what are you waiting for? What do you want to see in technology that would make you envious of the next gen phone if you got the N1? I find it interesting that the N1 is 6 months old yet it's still top of it's game. The Dinc and the EVO just came out and there are both running very similar specs.

The immediate future is a bit fuzzy. Motorola is coming out with two new phones, one with a big screen, and the other with a 1Ghz processor, nothing huge in terms of hardware. But Motorola did make a statement that they want to push technology but the end of the year to 2Ghz which is a pretty big leap. So could you wait that long? Or would you miss out on using the N1 during the time.

Lastly I think you should think in your head about what you are waiting for. I will tell you my top three things that will make me switch phones:

1. Better screen in sunlight.
2. Much better battery life.
3. Faster processor speeds (not 1.2 or 1.5, maybe 1.5+).

For me if only one of these three came out I wouldn't jump ship, it's going to take just about all three. I believe it's the battery life which is going to hamper big technology pushes. Better screens and faster processors are probably going to use a lot of power and I personally couldn't switch unless it at least equaled my N1. I don't see these things happening for a while and with that I will be happy with my N1.

Battery life is a MAJOR concern for any customer thinking of purchasing a next generation handset in the future.

Take the EVO for example, I would MUCH rather have NO 4g radio and instead use the space for a bigger battery. I know Sprint put in the 4g radio just to sell more of them since 4g sounds much more futuristic and will draw in the sheep, but from a practicality standpoint the 4g sucks down what little battery it already has in addition to only being active in a very few amount of markets.

A 4.3' matte screen phone (for sunlight visibility) with kickstand, vanilla android, and bigger battery would be perfect for me and get me to jump.

you should wait, atleast 3-4 days. there is a rumor about N1's being in tmobile stores june 19.

atleast with the N1 you will get any and all updates ASAP. that was a big selling point for me. too many people complaining about their 6 month old phones being left for dead with updates.

i dont expect google to do another phone since selling them on their site didnt work out. and if they have to appease carriers, the next google phone might not be so great.

example:
sprint's evo, has an additional monthly fee for the ability to become a wireless hotspot. the nexus one can do it for free.

my buddies old verizone phone was somehow blocked from sending or receiving pictures or songs and ring tones by bluetooth. me and my brother were able to share them with our tmobile phones. my firends bluetooth was somehow restricted from communicating with anything bluetooth except a headset.

But on the other hand, I want to wait it out a bit for another vanilla Android phone with a bigger screen (4.3" anyone?), 720p video without root, front-facing camera (to match those silly iPhone 4 fanboys), and HDMI out. If I'm going to be paying $500 for a phone, I want the latest and greatest technology there is.

I'm pretty much stuck on T-Mobile and the chances of them getting a superphone, let alone vanilla Android, are pretty slim. Don't even mention the Galaxy S or the Motoroi...TouchWiz is disgusting and I'm on a CLIQ with MotoBLUR now, no thanks.

Jesus, no wonder we have so much tech garbage. I just grabbed one used for 400 bucks on craigslist, you should do the same. This phone is only 6 months old and rocks. Your cliq will get an update to 2.1, but if you don't like the speed of the hardware then upgrade.... but don't wait and suffer Also screw Samsung as I had a Behold II. They just have too many bugs and don't fix anything. Thank god for Eugene373.

It is the best Android Vanilla option available right now but at the same time it is a 5 months old device. Not matter how great the device is, it just doesn't make any sense to spent $550 right now for a half year old device. (at least not for me)

People needs a fresh up version of nexus with ~4'' screen, frond facing camera, 5-8 Megapixels back camera with flash/led, HDMI out, 720p recording, pentaband 3G (like the Nokia N8) etc and they need it in plain Vanilla version. No HTC Sense, no TouchWiz, Motoblur and all this cr@p.

The million dollar question is when this going to happen??
Assuming the rumors are true and Google will not produce another Nexus then the only way to see Vanilla offers from HTC, Samsung and others are with Android 3.0 and this is not happening until the end of the year or at least in 6 months from now.

Exactly. As pretty as Sense UI is, I don't like it. I want near immediate Android updates, something you can only get with vanilla. I really wish HTC or Motorola would release something like the original Droid with its vanilla setup. For T-Mo too, please.
