ouch. that's gotta hurt.
and things like wifi reception and such are often rectified through firmware fixes. Some inefficiency in the firmware's interaction with the radio. If it's a dealbreaker that's one thing. Some just ride it out until it's fixed. Think there's a few threads on wifi performance if you search.
Yep, did searches here, and on other forums about this. I've tried everything, different routers, different settings, I've spent way too much time debugging this issue. I'm all for waiting for an update, my question is how long? HTC's response seems to indicate they have no idea when and if a firmware update will resolve this issue (see below).
My last response to HTC included several links to sites reporting this issue; Yet HTC still will not even acknowledge it's a problem. What I would like to do is go back to the RS where I purchased it from, see if they have stock, and have them fire up a new one and test the wi-fi at the shop, along with everything else before I leave.
Here is HTC's final response about this issue:
"HI, Daniel. Thank you for your reply regarding the wi-fi connection with the HTC Evo 4g. If no other steps have resolved the issue, including using only routers that utilize wireless B and G frequencies or resetting the device, the only other option that HTC can offer would be to contact our Repair Department at the number provided previously: 1-877-293-0807.
Unfortunately, we are unable to determine when, or if, future updates may be released. Also, for any request for device replacement or exchange, you will need to speak to Sprint as this is handled solely by the carriers within their policies and guidelines. IF you are in need of additional technical support, feel free to contact our Tech Support at 1-888-449-8358."
